Por Natthawut Warns About PM 2.5: A Close Threat and One of the Most Dangerous Modern Diseases, Reinforcing That Dust Is a Killer

Por Natthawut Skidjai has opened up and warned Thai people about PM 2.5 dust. “Por Natthawut Skidjai” After his wife “Ae Pornthip” was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer due largely to PM exposure, he advises Thais to wear masks to avoid cancer. He revealed, "Our family has been more affected than most; I’m not just raising my voice for no reason. Ae has stage 1 lung cancer, and PM exposure was a significant factor. It’s likely from PM2.5. Seeing the dust, it reinforces that this is a killer. Meanwhile, some people still don’t wear masks despite the dust."

"I’m not blaming anyone for choosing to wear or not wear a mask—it’s personal. But I want to warn those with families and loved ones not to be careless. PM2.5 particles are extremely small; you might think it’s harmless, but the dust can enter your body because of its tiny size. Your lungs then suffer inflammation, potentially leading to respiratory diseases and even cancer. Nowadays, people neglect this. Just wearing a mask helps a lot. I’ve seen many people develop lung cancer without ever smoking. So PM is a major factor—a modern disease many still underestimate, thinking that because they can breathe without smell, it’s just fog. But it’s actually very dangerous."

"We need to change this perception: it’s not fog; it’s highly dangerous air pollution. My family has been affected—Ae is sick with cancer. I want everyone to be aware, wear masks, stay indoors in sealed buildings, and avoid going outside unless necessary. This problem is seasonal, mostly in the early winter months. If you persist in wearing masks now, it will ease later and life can return to normal. But don’t forget: if we stay careless, the dust accumulates in our bodies and may cause coughing, allergies, and—I'm not trying to scare anyone—it could lead to cancer."
