To fulfill the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Phannawadee, Chairperson of the TO BE NUMBER ONE project, aimed at inspiring youth to become talented, virtuous, and quality members of society and the nation, the Department of Mental Health, as the project secretariat, has organized activities to enhance and develop the quality of TO BE NUMBER ONE members to be socially respected and valuable. This is under the event titled “TO BE NUMBER ONE IDOL” or “Outstanding TO BE NUMBER ONE Youth Role Models,” the 16th edition for the year 2026, where provinces select youth representatives to compete in the regional selection round.
The TO BE NUMBER ONE Outstanding Youth Role Model contest, also called TO BE NUMBER ONE IDOL, is an activity under the TO BE NUMBER ONE project designed to demonstrate to the public that TO BE NUMBER ONE youth can develop themselves into both talented and virtuous individuals, serving as role models for their peers in the TO BE NUMBER ONE network and the wider youth community. The image of TO BE NUMBER ONE IDOL embodies both imitation and constructive learning approaches for the quality growth of Thai youth, which will ultimately provide society and the nation with quality resources—youth who remain safe from drug abuse in the future.
From last year's contest, it was found that all selected and developed TO BE NUMBER ONE Outstanding Youth Role Models showed clear progress aligned with the project's objectives, especially in their public-minded thinking, willingness to help others, living cooperatively with mutual support, and appropriately planning their futures. Moreover, these youths have dedicated themselves as key contributors to the project by participating in activities and sharing experiences, serving as examples nationwide and generating widespread momentum for the TO BE NUMBER ONE talented and virtuous youth movement.
