This trip had been planned for a long time. Coincidentally, her Burmese meditation teacher was teaching Vipassana meditation in Indonesia, so she followed. There are many Buddhists in Indonesia, and they teach Abhidhamma just like in Thailand. She’s glad people misunderstood and thought she ordained, but she only practiced Vipassana meditation for 18 to 20 days, which isn’t a long period. She’s happy people think of her and wishes to share the merit she made at year-end with everyone.
As for the plan to take Thongthong Mokjak along, he intended to ordain, but he had some health issues, was busy with selling products and his acting work, so he had to postpone the ordination. They haven’t decided exactly when he will ordain yet, waiting to clear everything up first before confirming. They also need to wait for an auspicious date and consult the teachers about the timing. She told Thongthong that if he doesn’t ordain yet, he can “ordain in his heart” by changing his mindset. So she herself went to a meditation retreat center for the planned duration. She mentioned that her vow to ordain came after surviving an accident; she promised the guardian spirits that she would ordain to dedicate merit so her younger sibling could continue living. She admits she has considered ordaining for life, but that is a plan for the future.
She also shared chanting tips for 2026, saying anyone who wants success and wealth can chant any prayer they wish, but the key is to chant with full intention, mindfulness, and concentration. Don’t just chant in Pali without understanding; it’s important to know the meaning of the words. Chanting only in Pali is fine, but you must understand and focus well, sincerely reflecting on the virtues of the Triple Gem.
