Manawijit Studio, led by Kriangkrai Manawijit who serves as managing director and film director, continues to produce quality films that blend charm with reflections of multiculturalism. Recognized as one of Thailand's first studios to deeply and authentically incorporate the stories, culture, and identity of the three southern border provinces into its screenplays, the studio respects the local context while telling its stories.
Manawijit Studio launched with its first film, "Rak Na Sup Sup" in 2020, which portrayed Malay cuisine from the southern border through themes of love, attachment, and coexistence among diverse cultures. The film won awards both domestically and internationally, elevating local food culture as a form of Soft Power.
Another notable success for Manawijit Studio was the horror film "Kong Kaek," which delved into southern black magic and superstition, reflecting local beliefs and realities while delivering a clear cautionary message: “Don’t accept, don’t know, don’t try.” The film drew packed audiences and sparked widespread discussion on social media, gaining popularity not only in Thailand but also in Malaysia.
In 2024, Manawijit Studio received Soft Power funding from the Ministry of Culture to produce "Phu Bao Nikah," a light-hearted comedy about interfaith marriage, filled with humor, understanding, and broad audience appeal.
For 2026, Manawijit Studio takes a significant step forward by holding a press conference to unveil its film line-up for 2026 through 2027 under the event titled The Magic of The Future at CALYPSO BANGKOK Asiatique The Riverfront (Warehouse 4). This year, the studio presents three films of distinct styles and flavors—Kong Kaek 2, Tia, and The Dreamers: Before Dawn—to entertain audiences throughout the year. The event highlights the power of cinematic art under the concept “The Magic of Artistic Splendor, The Future of Film Art,” creating uniquely contemporary Thai films that clearly embody Manawijit's identity.
First is "Kong Kaek 2," building on the original's success to expand the horror universe. For this project, Manawijit Studio co-produces with strong business partner M Studio. Directed by Kriangkrai Manawijit, the film stars Euro Yossawat, Pammy Sutthida, and Pin Pinyarat from the first film, promising intensified chills while preserving its enduring mystery.
Next is "Tia," directed by experienced filmmaker Marut Sarowat, known for his extensive work in television dramas. The film tells the story of Tia, who abandoned his children but must return to care for a father suffering from Alzheimer's. Leading actors include Sinchai Ua-Akkarawong, Kawna Kittiphat, Kik Mayurin, Hakim Donphawichit, among others.
Concluding the lineup is a special performance by the trio SISMA with the songs "The Dreamers" and "Born To Be" from the film "THE DREAMERS: Before Dawn," directed by Kriangkrai Manawijit. Based on the true story of the three-member girl group SISMA and the journey of the label owner and young producer at his lowest point before a new hope emerged, the film presents dreams, hopes, and the identity of a new generation through music. It stars Tono Pakin as the producer, alongside the real SISMA members Bungkee, Mew, and May, with appearances by Elle Oros, Poo Nataya, Guinea Purada, Khaofang Yasumin, and Mavin Thanawin, who all contribute to the film's vibrant atmosphere before gathering for a commemorative photo.
Each film distinctly reflects Manawijit Studio's identity in all dimensions—creativity and the future of Thai cinema—which audiences will definitely see in 2026. Beyond these three featured films, the studio also has major projects lined up for release in 2027, including Hallo, Sming Kong Kaek, Ponae Kratoy Nayoo, Kubor, Soul Kho Siaw Noi, and Matsuri.
