Ananda and Nut Open Up After Birth of First Son Phukin, Reveal Meaningful Name Origin

After the famous couple Ananda Everingham and Nut Nittha Thanalongkorn announced the happy news that they were expecting their first child, which turned out to be a son, before Nut gave birth to their first son named Master Phukin Tent Everingham and shared the joyful news on Instagram on 7 Feb 2026 GMT+7. Recently, Ananda and Nut spoke for the first time at Meeting Room 1, 3rd floor, Zone B, BNH Hospital, Silom.

“It was an overwhelming mix of emotions. Even though we tried to stay calm before the C-section, thinking we were steady, the atmosphere was very relaxed but filled with happiness, pride, worry, and concern. It was the first time in life we felt this way.”

“When the baby was born, I didn’t see the actual surgery. Everything happened so fast. Hearing the baby’s cry, I was at a loss, hands shaking, tears welling up, crying with happiness. Then they told me to come this way, to cut the umbilical cord—I was stunned. It all happened so quickly before the tears started to flow gently.”

“I regained composure when I saw relatives and everyone. I started to breathe easier. Everyone was happy. They took him to another room for the incubator. I gradually calmed down. The baby cried. I had never been a father before, so I wondered what to do, asking if I was doing it right. They said yes. Everyone smiled encouragingly. He was so small. I didn’t know how to hold him yet, but after some time together, everything settled. There was a connection between just the two of us, even though the room was full.”

“Nut said the baby had rapid breathing because he was a little tired at birth. So they examined him and found the fast breathing, which required incubator care. It wasn’t serious. We didn’t post immediately because Nut was still groggy from anesthesia.”

“Ananda said the hospital detected the rapid breathing quickly and took him to the NICU. It’s not a rare condition, occurring in about 20-30% of newborns, but he needed monitoring. They gave him oxygen to help him breathe easier and adjust faster. In the first 24 hours he improved rapidly, and by 48 hours they removed the tubes.”

“Ananda continued that when Nut woke up, she asked how the baby was. They explained and called the doctor again, who said not to worry. Once she recovered, she would see the baby. By 9 a.m., Nut was up and walking. The nurses were surprised at how fit she was. Nut said she asked the doctor if walking would tear her stitches. The doctor said no, the stitches were ten layers and the wound was very neat, very small, so she could move freely.”

“Nut said the baby was very calm in the womb. When she did a fashion show beside loudspeakers, he didn’t kick or move abnormally. He’s a calm baby. After birth, no matter who held him, he didn’t cry. He’s quite chill. Ananda added that when he was newly born and a bit uncomfortable, he’d cry, but lately he’s been very calm and easygoing.”

“Regarding the baby’s face, Ananda said they talk about it daily. Since birth, they’ve been observing who he resembles. His face changes every day, as if something new appears each day. Some days he looks like his father, others like his mother. Ananda said his mouth looks like his, while Nut said the nose resembles hers. The bridge of the nose is his father’s, hair is 100% his, eyes are uncertain but currently seem to take after his mother, skin from his father, and eyebrows have yet to grow.”

“Yesterday the baby breastfed for the first time successfully without causing pain. Nut is adjusting to feeding every two hours. The doctor recommends 10-12 feedings a day. She will temporarily become a full-time mom and has taken leave from work.”

“Nut said a child can completely change a parent’s world. Normally she focuses on work, but since having the baby, work has disappeared from her mind. She’s adjusting and now focuses entirely on him.”

“Regarding the impactful Instagram photo, Ananda said they were originally wearing clothes and had their chest exposed, but the photographer wanted a picture, so he asked if they could remove the shirt for aesthetic reasons. It was a special moment, less than an hour after birth, filled with a flood of emotions—a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

“About the baby’s real name, ‘Phukin’ was not a contested choice but took time. The meaning is ‘Phu’ meaning land and ‘Kin’ meaning great person. They combined these parts themselves; it’s not a common name and likely unique. They wanted multiple meanings and auspicious numbers. Several names were sent to a monk for selection, and Phukin was chosen.”

“The middle name ‘Tent’ comes from Nut’s surname, ‘Thanalongkorn.’ They wanted something short, considered ‘Thana’ but it didn’t sound right, so they tried ‘Than,’ dropped the ‘a,’ replaced it with ‘e,’ and found ‘Thane’ which has a good meaning in English. Thus, ‘Thane (Tent)’ was chosen. The nickname ‘Puttho’ was given by a monk.”
