Noom Kanchai Shares Fascinating History of His Grandfather Jang Wang Ploeng Kamnoedploy

Earlier, social media was abuzz after seeing a photo shared on Facebook by Noknoy Kaiyarach of Noom Kanchai Kamnoedploy's actual grandfather. Noom Kanchai Kamnoedploy, the famous host, whose grandfather was named "Jang Wang Ploeng Kamnoedploy." He was a high-ranking royal attendant (Jang Wang) serving under His Royal Highness Prince Yugala Dighambara, the Krom Luang Lopburi Ramet, and Noom Kanchai shared the photo with the caption, “Grandpa, did you use a Liao?”

Recently, on the program News Sai Kai on Thairath TV Channel 32, Moddam Kachapa asked about this, and Noom Kanchai said he was also puzzled, then shared some history about his grandfather and father.

Moddam asked, “Noom, why have so many people recently been sharing photos of your grandfather? Your family is handsome—your father is handsome, and your grandfather was too.”

Noom replied, “Yeah, I’m confused too. I just mentioned that many photos of my grandfather have been posted.”

Moddam asked, “Where did they come from? Did you post them?”

Noom said, “No. My grandfather was a Jang Wang.”

Moddam asked, “What exactly is a Jang Wang?”

Noom explained, “A Jang Wang was equivalent to a department director nowadays, responsible for the people within a royal household. For example, if serving under Krom Luang Lopburi Ramet, he would oversee all the officials there. Later, my father served under the senior prince, His Royal Highness Prince Phanuphanyuk, son of Krom Luang Lopburi Ramet. It’s a continuous lineage. Then a person named Noknoy, who was associated with Mom Prim Bunnaak and the senior prince’s descendants, posted this photo. I saw it and shared it, and then others reposted it and researched the history.”

Moddam said, “People are really good at researching history these days.”

Noom agreed, “Very skilled. I’m quite amazed. They’re really good at digging up histories.”
