Peggy Srithanya Fires Back After Posting Orange Tree Photo in Hong Kong Amid Political Speculation

After the host and singer Peggy Srithanya traveled on a trip to Hong Kong and posted photos of the atmosphere, including some visiting temples. However, one photo showed her posing with an orange tree, captioned “E-som Somwang… Amen.”

After posting the photo on Facebook and Instagram, people commented linking it to politics and subjected her to online attacks. She then clarified, “#After posting this photo for 2 hours, I’ve been heavily criticized. What’s wrong with Thailand? I posted this photo and immediately got tons of insults. Hey, I’m here to pay respects at the temple, and the orange tree is in front of the shrine with lots of fruit. Is there only one issue in Thailand?”

“I’m abroad, so please don’t link this to politics. It’s really annoying. #MakingMeritWillNowBringSin. What’s wrong with this country that taking a photo with an orange tree is sinful? It’s ridiculous and infuriating. #AndYes, Peggy chose P’Tae, wants to raise dinosaurs. Yeah, right.”

Later, Peggy Srithanya posted a message saying, “If the orange photo I posted earlier was politically motivated, may I perish. But!! If it’s not related to politics and people still insult me, may chaos befall them. May their lives be unsuccessful. Amen. I’m currently observing precepts; merits and sins are strong.”

She captioned the post: “Cursed….  Ridiculous indeed. #Note This is a democracy. Everyone has the right to like and choose whoever they want. So why insult those who choose differently? Let’s try again. Why cultivate hatred? If someone is corrupt or dishonest, let's investigate together—not witch hunt.”

“If you dislike my choice, you’re sinful, disgraceful, and truly evil. Stop it. This is an era where we need to love one another!! Stop sowing seeds of hatred; enough is enough. #YouCanLose #YouCanWin #ButDon’tCheat #TheOnlySideIsTheCountry’sSide.”

Fans came to support her with comments like: “Too sensitive, keep fighting, Mom. This is an orange’s name; should it be changed?”, “Observing precepts too, Mom hits hard,” “So fabulous,” “Such good linking skills,” “Some are too emotional, really annoying lately,” “Good at linking, unemployed,” etc.
