Ekachai Refrains from Political Criticism, Leaves Administration to the Prime Minister, Asserts He Has Done His Part

Those who follow the southern music icon "Ekachai Sriwichai" will have seen that he used to frequently post political opinions. Recently, however, many have wondered why he has stopped posting the intense political content common among other entertainers. He admits that politics nowadays is quite dangerous, so he chooses not to criticize and remains silent. He insists no one has told him to keep quiet. Politics from the start of the campaign through to after the election has ended—he, who never previously expressed political views on social media or elsewhere, has been the one to always speak about politics. But why has he become silent lately? No one has silenced him.

But I feel that currently, expressing political opinions is dangerous. This danger does not mean I am unpatriotic; my views remain the same. It’s just that no one accepts liking different things; if you do, you are immediately criticized. So it’s better not to comment at all. We can do what we want. When the time comes for us to vote, we go—or not, that’s our right. So I just stay quiet. I believe there’s no need to worry because those who come into this country share the same goal: to ensure the people live well, eat well, and to develop the nation. That is their duty. Whether they do it or not is their choice—they were elected.

I am just a singer, just a film director, nothing more. I think of myself like a sewing needle, not a knife to scrape fish or ducks. So those in office will know how to act once they have volunteered. Let them handle their duties. People want this and that, but it will never end because everyone wants something. Can it be done in four years? I don't think so, but I hope they prioritize the people's interests above all. That’s what they must do. If they don’t, the people have the right not to re-elect them in the next four years. Whoever becomes prime minister must have policies that improve the people's lives. Ultimately, the most important thing is to accept the rules and the votes. Let them work. I won’t criticize; I have done my part and used my voice.
