Now officially recognized as Dr. Boonrob Srivichai. For the southern Thai music legend, "Ekkachai Srivichai" today (11 Feb 2026), he received the honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree in Digital Film and Creative Media from Ramkhamhaeng University. He shared his intention to become a special lecturer for new graduates, saying he felt goosebumps because putting on the graduation gown again this morning took him back to 1983, his first year at Ramkhamhaeng University. It felt like returning home, and having the chance to wear the gown once more, now in a field that reflects his growth and knowledge, is a great source of pride.
He expressed gratitude to all parties who approved and awarded him this degree. Ekkachai Srivichai, or Mr. Boonrob Srivichai, said that from now on, when using the title “Doctor,” it should be applied to Mr. Boonrob Srivichai, not Ekkachai Srivichai. He said the title is a source of pride. Combining classroom credits with outside experience required many steps to reconcile, and receiving this honor is truly a great pride.
He views this honor not as a symbol of life’s success but as recognition from elders, society, and the university that he is a dedicated worker who has developed and shared his knowledge with many generations of students, fellow citizens, and all Thais. He hopes to be a role model in building a livelihood and continuing this work. He said that from the start, if given this opportunity and honor, his greatest desire is to return to Ramkhamhaeng University to participate in meaningful projects and share his life experience with new graduates as a special lecturer who supports the university.
He clarified that his motivation has nothing to do with money; he will not accept a salary. He wants to contribute to the students. There may be several projects developed together to support the students—he’s not sure what they will be yet, but there will definitely be some.
