The Japanese boy group ONE OR EIGHT celebrated the launch of their first mini album GATHER with close interactions with fans throughout the weekend at Japan Expo Thailand. They transformed the high-energy fun of their lead single “TOKYO DRIFT” into the event theme “BANGKOK DRIFT.”
At Japan Expo Thailand, ONE OR EIGHT delivered an energetic performance on the same stage as many talented artists from Japan and Thailand, including Kazuya Kamenashi, Koji Mukai (Snow Man), AKB48, Avantgardey, BNK48, Keng-Namping, C-Nonew, and many others.
On the evening of 6 February, ONE OR EIGHT surprised fans by appearing in a flash mob dance performance of “TOKYO DRIFT” at Paragon Park, joining 20 dancers. This attracted fans and passersby to share in the fun. After the performance, they took the excitement through Siam in a tuk-tuk parade led by an LED-advertised vehicle playing “TOKYO DRIFT” loudly, turning the area into a lively celebration. To extend the momentum, digital billboard ads continued for a week at Paragon Park, one of Bangkok’s busiest districts. Weekend activities also included a visit to a fan café at CentralWorld, adding another fan meeting spot in Bangkok. Watch the BANGKOK DRIFT event atmosphere here.
Beyond these activities, ONE OR EIGHT collaborated with talented Thai artists to create content and exchange creative energy through music, dance, and youth culture. They partnered with leading artists such as ALALA, ATLAS, DICE, GALCHANIE, MILLI, PERSES, and VIIS. These collaborations, aligning with local trends, reinforced their commitment to deeply connect with the regional music scene beyond stage performances.
The Bangkok activities followed their “SHIBUYA DRIFT” project in Tokyo, celebrating the launch of their mini album GATHER. The lead single “TOKYO DRIFT” quickly gained popularity on TikTok, reaching 30 million views and 1.9 million likes within a week, with the group’s monthly Spotify listeners surpassing 1 million. The launch campaign covered Shibuya with city-wide ads including posters, advertising trucks, and giant video screens, plus a special display of a Nissan Skyline GTR (R34) wrapped with artwork by famed manga artist Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The campaign culminated in a 30-minute live stream titled ‘Surprise Live at Shibuya’ on 8 February, featuring performances from the mini album on a modified 4-ton truck stage, underscoring their growing popularity across major Asian cities.
Before attending Japan Expo Thailand, ONE OR EIGHT visited South Korea to perform on major music shows including MusicCore, M Countdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo. Their next step is a concert tour starting 7 March, with shows in Kobe, Nagoya, and Yokohama (more details here), with additional dates to be announced. Notably, they will also appear at the Acecook presents TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION in VIETNAM - Music Fashion Festival on 28-29 March, continuing to bring their music to new audiences and stages.
