Previously, Poo Kanokwan gave an interview stating she had separated from Der Dok Sadeaw after discovering that Der had been leading a double life for more than 29 years, and that another woman came before her. She spoke these words in front of Der while he was lying on a hospital bed: “I want to apologize for the past. Let's not be angry anymore. We're old now.”
Recently, Thairath Entertainment interviewed and spoke with Khwan, the woman alleged to be Der's second life, and Ple Napath, Der's daughter. Both explained the background of the situation. Khwan admitted she had apologized to Der’s wife, saying, “Don’t overthink it. The past is past. I apologize. We're old now, so no need to worry.”
Khwan said, “To this day, I still don't know what a 'second life' means. I have a husband and children.”
Was there any affair?
Khwan said, “No, because this is all in the past. I admit I was once Der's girlfriend, but that was after he had separated from Ple's mother. I assure you, I am not Der's second life. I have a husband and a 36-year-old child. After that, I went back to my hometown to raise my child and sell goods. I only found out when he got sick by seeing the news, and then I came to visit him. I didn't even know his daughter.”
Ple said, “Yes, I met her for the first time on the day she came to visit. She never introduced herself before.”
Khwan said, “He didn’t even know what my relationship with Der was.”
Khwan admitted that she had been Der's girlfriend before but stopped seeing him after he got involved with Poo Kanokwan and then returned to her hometown to raise her child.
Khwan said, “When we first dated, he helped a little. My child was young, and after my husband died, I went back home to raise the child and sell goods. Regarding the claim that I called him two years ago — yes, I did call, but I was drunk. He didn't answer. I only found out when he was ill, so I came to visit him. That’s all.”
She recounted, “He found me in the patient’s room while I was eating. Yes, he opened the door and asked if I was watching over Der. I said yes. Then he asked my name. At first, I didn’t tell him, but when he asked again, I said Khwan. He said, ‘Oh, Khwan, the one I used to talk to, right?’ I said yes. Then I told him, ‘Don’t worry. The past is past. I apologize. We're old now, so don’t overthink it.’ Just that. Then a cleaner came in, and Der had phlegm, so I said I would clean it. After I finished, Der motioned with his hands for me to leave the room, so I did.”
Khwan said, “There is no truth to the claims that I came for inheritance or to register marriage.”
Ple said, “That day, I had to run errands early, so I had someone stay overnight to watch over Dad so he could be with him in the morning. At that time, Dad was depressed, scared of being abandoned, and crying. I didn’t want to see that. My younger brother was busy. Khwan said she would come to help watch over him, so I told her to come. She said she was in another province, so I offered to help with travel costs. Khwan came to help for just a few days, 2-3 days, because I wasn’t gone long. That’s all.”
Ple added, “Then he called and said he had met Dad’s wife. I said it was fine; I thought Dad would ask me himself. That was my thought, but no conversation happened.”
Why did Ple ask Khwan to care for Der?
Ple said, “Because I trusted Khwan. When she visited Dad in the hospital, she took good care of him, like a nurse. I asked if she felt anything helping Dad with lifting his legs and such. She said no, that if she could do it, she would, since he couldn’t move himself. We felt she was sincere.”
“When people break up or end relationships, they don’t necessarily cut ties. They can remain friends. When she came, the first thing she said was she wanted to repay Dad for his kindness because he had helped her before. We saw her sincerity. We met, but emotionally, we didn’t think much. Dad was bedridden and couldn’t speak, so the only thing to do was find someone to lift his limbs because he was sore. It just so happened we really couldn’t find anyone. We didn’t intend to harm anyone’s family. We live in a care center with staff, but they have to look after others too. So, we help where we can.”
Why wasn’t Der’s wife allowed to care for him when no one else was available?
Ple said, “She stopped talking to me. I don’t know why—maybe because she was tired, as she said. But I won’t discuss that. So, I had to find the closest person. I didn’t want to bother anyone else since she said she couldn’t manage anymore.”
