Extremely lucky in both gaming and love, this famous female singer Ink Waruntorn Paonil Currently has a packed schedule through mid-year, including Running Man Thailand, the film The Miracle of Wanthong where she stars as Wanthong, and preparing to release new music.
Recently met Ink at the “Sensodyne Clinical White: Guaranteed White Teeth, No Tooth Sensitivity” event at floor M of Emsphere shopping center, where she was introduced as the latest brand ambassador. She shared in an interview,
Asked about Running Man Thailand, is it as tough and grueling as reported?
“I’m very lucky that I haven’t suffered any injuries yet. Being the only woman on the show, the men are very strong. Even when they push me with just one hand during games, I fall down. So I have to use all my strength to push back, which sometimes causes bruises and soreness, especially since we film long days. After finishing the first episode, which was a heavy workload, I sat and wondered what I was doing.”
“But filming was fun. I’m usually not very competitive or keen on winning. At first, I felt I had to adjust; it was a shock because everyone was very determined to win. So I had to compete too. I even told my friends on the show that after this, I might change (smiles). Being a nice person doesn’t work here; being innocent and naive might still be okay.”
What do you bring to compete against others?
“You’ll have to watch the show. Now, whenever I go out, everyone says they’re worried about me and Nooniew. Just wait and see.”
Many are wondering who is the most cunning on the show?
“Just as everyone says (Is it Jeff? He denied it, claiming it was a rumor?) Then it must be a rumor. Just wait and see. The first episode airs on 22 February.”
Why do you think Jeff is the most cunning?
“I’ve been friends with Jeff for a long time, but I’ve only just seen this side of him. Everyone’s mindset is about winning. When I saw Jeff while the crew explained the game, I felt he was already strategizing how to win. Every time I see Jeff’s face, I think he’s definitely thinking about how to win. Jeff takes the game very seriously. Just wait and see. I don’t want to spoil it, but there are some players that made me wonder if we should still be friends (smiles). Yes, just wait and see.”
Asked about the film The Miracle of Wanthong?
“It will be available to watch within this year. Right now, we’re in the process as the film has announced, around mid-year.”
What kind of version is your Wanthong? Will the traditional image be absent?
“The Miracle of Wanthong won’t be like the Wanthong everyone has seen before. Wanthong is played by me, Khun Phaen by P’Mark (Prin), and Khun Chang by Gulf (Kanawut), who is not portrayed as overweight like in the classic literature. So there will definitely be new elements. Please look forward to it.”
Regarding the criticism that you seem unsuitable?
“I’ve seen it and understand because everyone’s memory of Wanthong is based on what they learned; they imagine Wanthong as a certain type of woman. Everyone imagines differently, which is very understandable. But I want people to wait and see first. This Wanthong, in The Miracle of Wanthong, will definitely be unlike anything anyone has seen before. It’s a fun story with many interpretations. I believe everyone will really enjoy it.”
Are you secretly bothered by the criticism?
“I understand others’ perspectives but want them to see the work first. I did ask the director if he was bothered by the criticism that I don’t fit. He said no; he chose me because I resemble the image of Mother Wanthong from the temple wall painting. Gulf plays Khun Chang. The image the director wants to present fits us, so he isn’t bothered. If he isn’t, then I feel at ease.”
Joking about your close friend Fay, is she in love?
“We just talked yesterday. I asked if she missed me because she’s been absent lately, but I understand she’s in love (smiles).”
How long have you known?
“When friends fall in love, they keep updating me. I’m happy she found a real love. We’ll arrange to have a meal together soon; it’s time.”
Now that your friend is in love, does she treat you better?
“No, I think she talks better to her boyfriend, but maybe not so much to me (smiles). But I can tell she’s changed a lot since falling in love. I’m glad to see this side of her, even if it slightly conflicts with her usual toughness. I’m happy she’s happy. Her gaze looks brighter. Usually, she fights with the older ones a lot. I’m glad she’s happy and want everyone to see this side of her too. Let’s congratulate her; it’s rare to see her so in love.”
From what you feel, is your friend head over heels?
“Definitely. As I said, it’s really rare. I’m happy for her. Many people want to see this version of her regularly. We’ve known each other for over ten years. When she truly falls in love and talks about it, I really feel happy for her.”},{
