As a father himself, Chai Chatayodom, who has school-age children, was asked for his opinion on the matter. He also spoke about Director Sasiphat Sinsoomsa, director of Patong Prachanakeereewat School, saying to us that
He never thought something like this would happen in our country. He had only heard of such incidentsabroad,where such events occurred, but they felt distant. Yet suddenly, it has come to our home. Being a parent,he is very concernedabout entrusting children to schools and teachers' care, unable to do anything when a madman suddenly enters the school and acts unpredictably. He wishes this would never happen.
Regardingschool measures,there surely areprotocolsalready in place to provide care, but they were not prepared for an incident like this. It is not normal. He hopes this will serve as a warning that such things can happen. We should care for each other more—not only at school but also relatives or anyone close who shows signs or risks of such behavior. They should be taken for treatment and care to prevent them from becoming a danger to society.
Chai also believes schools remain safe places where we can trust and feel comfortable entrusting our children to the care of teachers and schools, and to teachers who are willing to sacrifice to care for our children.Both physically and mentally,and there are millions more to thank. This incident will surely alertpersonnelto be vigilant and provide care. He trusts teachers immensely and would confidently entrust loved ones to them.
This incident exemplifies the sacrifice of the director who gave up his own life to protect his students. It is the best example of selflessness. We must deeply thank the director and his family for having someone like him in society willing to sacrifice for others. This is not something ordinary people can do, but it isthe instinctof a teacher—a true sacrifice. He sends his support to the director’s family. This is a very great sacrifice.
Regarding the perpetrator, he hopes for very severe punishment so others will not dare to do the same. However, as mentioned, the person may not be mentally sound or aware of right and wrong, so vigilance is needed both externally and internally.
