After she stopped working in the entertainment industry, currently Ma Ornapa has turned to selling hor mok made by her mother, following her mother's original recipe, at a market in her village.
Recently, she posted photos and a message saying someone complained that the hor mok she sells did not have a clear price tag, which led officials to come to her stall. Since it was her first offense, she was fined 200 baht. Ma Ornapa ended by saying, “How far will this bullying go? I’ve even fled to become a vendor now.”
"Today, someone filed a complaint with the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services, accusing Ma’s hor mok stall of not displaying the price of hor mok, although other items had price tags. So five officials came in a group. One pretended to buy a piece of hor mok to check the price. Then they all showed up as if arresting a criminal, reading the complaint aloud while the shop was packed with customers.
The complainant seemed to be targeting me, because the complaint included a note saying ‘do not settle this due to my reputation and influence.’ This is clearly harassment. But anyway, I admit I was careless—I've sold here so long I forgot, though other products do have price tags. Since it was a first offense, instead of a 10,000 baht fine, I only got 200 baht.
The five officials who came ended up buying hor mok and pomelo, supporting us with more than 200 baht total. Thank you. I will print clear price tags soon and pay the fine. P.S. How far will this bullying go? I’ve even fled to become a vendor now.”
Many followers commented to offer their support to Ma, saying that facing such challenges will only make her sales stronger.
