Around 19:30 last night, a startling incident shook the entire nation when a loud fire erupted across Surin Province. Flames soared into the sky so fiercely that locals initially feared an attack from Cambodia crossing into Thailand.
An explosion occurred at the ammunition depot within the Border Patrol Police Division 21 at Surin Phakdi Camp in Surin Province, causing extensive damage to the storage. Shortly after, soldiers from Border Patrol Police 21 explained that the likely cause was the intense heat, which triggered old ammunition inside the depot to explode and catch fire. The fierce flames were due to the heavy weaponry damaged in the blast, making the explosions particularly violent.
On the same day, singer “Bank Preeti” also known as “Bank Clash”, was performing at a concert at Isan University of Technology, Surin campus, located near the explosion site. He immediately posted a warning urging fans attending the concert to return home quickly for their safety.
After nearly two hours, the situation began to calm as authorities managed to control the fire. Bank then posted that the fire had been contained and that he was ready to perform, inviting anyone still waiting to come to the show.
Thairath Entertainment interviewed Bank’s personal manager this morning, who recounted that at the time of the incident, Bank was on his way to the event. The explosions were very loud, prompting him to call the organizers. Initially, they wanted to assess the situation. Bank was alarmed but soon received confirmation to proceed, so he went ahead with the event as fans were waiting. During the show, Bank asked the audience if they were scared; they replied they were still determined. Bank, who tours frequently across the lower Isan region, expressed concern for everyone and hopes the situation will truly settle soon.
