Attending the "UNLOCK BEAUTY SAFE ZONE" event to launch the "Skin, by your design" campaign, reporters had the chance to meet the popular leading actor. Nadech Kugimiya and took the opportunity to get an update on his wedding with his actress girlfriend. Yaya Urassaya Sperbund which will be held in Bangkok, Khon Kaen, and Norway. They asked how preparations were progressing, directly inquiring if the wedding budget really reached 10 million baht, and also about his fitness training for an upcoming marathon.
Is your schedule very packed these days?
"My schedule is very busy lately. (Taking on final jobs before the wedding?) Not really. The wedding preparations will take place throughout the year. But I have to balance time for work too. Both Yaya and I still need to work. Actually, we have locked in the date. For about 2-3 weeks, we need to focus on the wedding, but after that, we'll return to work."
Have you cleared your schedule as much as possible?
"The start of the year was really busy, but the middle of the year is lighter. (Will you run the marathon too?) I have to pay special attention to my diet—waking up, meals need to be proper. I have to eat without fearing weight gain. Some people worry about food when they get less rest, but I believe eating nutritious food helps my body recover very well. Right now, I’m taking good care of myself to prepare for the Hyrox competition. There's also a stage play, filming, and wedding preparations. I think only good things are happening. It's happiness and excitement from a positive perspective, which drives me well for each project."
Do you have backup plans in case some projects face issues?
"No, I just go full speed ahead. If problems arise, we have to fight through. Regarding Hyrox, it’s my first time competing alongside Brother Mark. I'm not going down alone—I’m taking my friends with me. (How tough is it?) It’s a competition where if you aim to beat the clock, there’s pressure, excitement, and worry—whether your legs will cramp, how fast your heart beats. It requires very good planning. But I’m excited to compete with Brother Mark, who has seemingly endless energy. He’s even fitter than me, though I work out often."
Is Yaya worried about you competing?
"She is worried, afraid I’ll overdo it and get injured. But she’s competing too, playing with her friends. Participating helps keep them fit for the wedding. Do the two mothers comment? No, they let us be. If it’s not about competing to win, we can take it slowly. I see Hyrox as a competition against myself, not others. Trying it out can’t hurt; it’s a good life experience. We’re not doing this alone—we’re going with friends. I feel this competition is very fulfilling."
Yaya competing with Kimberly?
"Yes, the competition includes Yaya, Kimberly, P'Bow—the four-girl gang—and P'Ann will compete too. James Jik and P'Great will participate as well. Many are joining. (Why so many celebrities?) Maybe it’s a trend. It’s famous abroad and challenges fitness levels. (Yaya has been training quietly, not posting anything?) She’s been keeping it low-key."
Does Nadech enjoy the excitement?
"(Laughs) The Khon Kaen wedding is now 90% done. I feel relieved and confident. The honeymoon might be after the Bangkok wedding, done all at once. The weddings will be in Khon Kaen, Norway, Bangkok, then the honeymoon. We have locked in the schedule to finish everything this year. It’s like a year-long wedding marathon. It’s exciting everywhere because all locations are important. Yaya and I try to make everything the best it can be. Is it worth the wait? From what I see, yes. Each place is different, reflecting who we are as a couple. We express ourselves through the weddings."
Is the wedding budget really 10 million baht?
"Not even close. The Khon Kaen wedding is under that, and the total budget is under 10 million. I’m generous, but my fiancé is not. She insists on using money wisely, not emotionally. We help each other."
9.5 million?
"Still under that. We get some freebies here and there (laughs). We share and help out. I’ll recruit friends as the team. The first wedding event is after the competition, which is quite a while away. You’ll probably see it soon because I want to share the moments with everyone. For the Bangkok event, will there be a live stream? No, but we’ll invite the press."
