The 4th anniversary of the passing of National Artist Sorapong Chatree (Performing Arts category). Yesterday (10 Mar 2026) Duangduan Jithaisong the wife of Sorapong Chatree and Sorapong’s two sons, namely Em Phisorn and Aum Patthakrit held a merit-making ceremony to dedicate merit on the 4th anniversary of his passing at the Somdet Phutthacharn (Toh Prommarangsi) Foundation in Si Khio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, commonly known as “Wat Sorapong.”
Besides commemorating the 4th anniversary, the family also made merit to welcome Sorapong’s life-like statue, which was completed late last year. The statue was intended to be placed at the Somdet Phutthacharn (Toh Prommarangsi) Foundation, a place Sorapong referred to as home during his lifetime.
Sorapong’s wife revealed that the outfit chosen for the statue resembles what her husband liked to wear when alive: a white shirt with a scarf around the neck. She also draped a white scarf on the statue’s neck before resting her head on its chest, believing the statue represents her husband’s spirit.
Em and Aum, the two sons, said they have seen the statue since it was completed and feel that it truly captures their father’s essence.
