
Four years after his passing, the children and relatives of father Wai Poj Phetsuphan the late National Artist held a merit-making ceremony to dedicate merit to Wai Poj Phetsuphan on the 4th anniversary of his passing. The menu featured his favorite dishes from Chef Ja Toy’s kitchen, known for forest cuisine from South Pattaya, who prepared his beloved spicy stir-fried eel and spicy stir-fried shark dishes. Relatives also brought mango sticky rice to offer in a meal to six monks to dedicate merit to father Wai Poj Phetsuphan. At the same time, Wiper, Wai Poj’s son, lit incense in front of his father’s photo and received the incense stick number "338"
As for Wai Poj Phetsuphan, his real name was Mr. Parn Sakulni. He was a National Artist born on 7 March 1942 and passed away on 12 January 2022. The family holds an annual memorial on his birthday at home. If Wai Poj were still alive, he would have turned 84 this year.
He was recognized for his musical knowledge and talent, earning the title "King of Lam Phloen" and considered a legendary master teacher in Thailand. His students respected him nationwide, including the Queen of Luk Thung music, Phum Phuang Duangchan, who became famous as his disciple. His well-known songs include "Num Na Ron Nang," "Sala Wan Ram Wong," "Taeng Tao Tai," "Fang Khao Tid Kaew," "Sai Klon Rue Plao," "Pee Kiew Mai Pen," "21 Mituna," and "Wai Poj Lab Wot."
