Another major problem that Boom Panadda and the Tam Dee Foundation are currently facing is the fuel shortage. The foundation has the important task of transporting deceased individuals to their hometowns in the provinces. Although "Mae Boom" has reserved fuel, for long distances they must stop to refuel along the way. Sometimes gas stations have no fuel, so they have to call the deceased's relatives to inform them that the body will arrive late.
Regarding this issue, "Mae Boom" deeply understands the situation, especially after seeing news of temples announcing they have no fuel for cremations. "Mae Boom" feels very saddened. The solution requires urgent government intervention because the fuel shortage has reached a crisis level. She gave an interview to Thairath Entertainment saying,
“I had already made preparations since 28 Feb, determining how much fuel the vehicle should stock because we are a foundation. Every baht and satang must be carefully considered; we cannot spend recklessly or afford expensive costs.
If you ask whether it affects us, yes, it does. We handle long-distance corpse transport, so we can only fill fuel to a certain extent. We inevitably have to refuel along the way, which impacts the final destination. Near Roi Et, there are stations where queues are full or only small amounts of fuel are available. Some stations allow refills of 500 baht or 400 baht, so we fill that much. After a while, the fuel runs out, and we have to tell relatives to wait a bit longer. Cremations require a lot of fuel to maintain strong fire; it’s not easy to cremate.”
Now, look at what the government says. Shouldn’t they have spoken up much earlier? It’s not right to set limits like allowing only 500 baht refills or restricting refueling until 5 p.m. The government should act before the public does. I have long said that the government should warn the public to be aware, not cause panic like this.
They should explain what citizens and the government need to do if the situation continues, such as stocking fuel, what people should conserve, and what the government will ask for cooperation on. If explained step by step, there would be no problems and people would know how to prepare. Instead, they say we can just relax, but drilling platforms cannot be rebuilt in a day or two.
I want to tell the public, especially those who rely on transportation like parents driving children, delivery riders, taxi drivers, or online sellers, that they will be affected because transportation costs will increase. Flight ticket prices have already risen. Now everyone must tighten their belts.
I want to warn everyone that since the COVID era, our financial situation has never been good. Our expenses have always been tight, so we must save. Now is the time to think more seriously. Stop any unnecessary spending on overpriced items. Save money for emergencies because we never know when a family member may fall ill. Do not be careless; prepare money and be ready. In this economy, when people save more, scammers will increase. Be cautious about your home and your savings.”
