The life of a true fan is now complete for the talented female rapper, MILLI, , or Milli Danupa Kanateerakul,
who previously posted that she "wanted to be so good BTS would know me," sparking a buzz. After five years, she had the chance to meet Namjoon, or RM from BTS, who shook her hand and said he was a big fan of hers. There was also a clip of Jungkook from BTS dancing to the SSAK song in the part where Milli rapped. Then Milli posted a clip crying with joy and shared the story on Instagram, and J-Hope from BTS
liked that clip. Recently, Milli
attended to receive the Best Album of The Year award at the "TOTY Awards" held at Samyan Mitrtown Hall, Samyan Mitrtown shopping center, where she was asked about these events.
Asked about the award?
"Today, I received the Best Album of The Year award. Thank you so much. I'm very happy. Recently, there have been many joyful moments, and this is another motivation for me to keep moving forward. As I said, making an album in the fast-paced social media era is very challenging. We never know how to release music that reaches all listeners widely, especially my hip-hop style songs, which sometimes feel confusing and chaotic even to myself. So, I really thank everyone for giving me this award and for loving my second album."
What projects will come next?
"It will probably be the third album because the previous two albums both won Best Album of The Year awards (she smiles shyly)."
How long will you stay in Thailand this time?
"I will stay for a while and then return to Korea again because I came here specifically for this award event."
Asked about last night, which became a big deal: Jungkook from BTS danced to the song part where Milli rapped?
"Today, I came with makeup on, so please don't make me cry. I am really very happy. I don't know what to say. Just holding this (the award) is already amazing. I'm so glad that today I achieved something I wanted to do five years ago."
You once posted you wanted to be so good BTS would know you?
"Believe me, I never truly dreamed of this. At that time, I was just joking, speaking casually. But now that it has actually happened, it became real, so I am very happy."
The moment you saw the clip?
"At first, I didn't believe it. I told my manager not to joke around, that I didn't want it. I thought it was another song they were already dancing to, and they just added my song later. So I said, 'No way, wait a moment, let me check TikTok.' Then, yes, it was true. I cried out loud. I was already following them, so I knew who was the real one. Then it all changed. They danced to my song on TikTok and shared it on their Instagram Stories."
You had already met RM BTS before?
"Yes, I met Namjoon in Korea before. It was amazing. He said he was a big fan. I actually planned to tell everyone because I like chatting with fans. But I hadn't told the story yet because I wanted to finish everything first. It felt like the pain hadn't fully healed, but then this kindness came in, and I couldn't handle it."
J-Hope also liked your crying clip?
"I don't know what they talked about, but he liked my clip."
What happened after RM said he was a big fan?
"My manager, P'Amp, supported me because I almost fainted. When Namjoon reached out and said he was a big fan, I held his hand. After he walked away, I collapsed. Believe me, they must have told each other, 'That was so funny — we met a kid from Thailand, and just saying 'I'm a big fan' made her faint.' They probably said something like that."
Did you wash your hands afterward?
"I washed my hands for good hygiene before eating. This moment will remain in my memory forever, but better to wash hands (laughs). Who would have thought or dreamed of this? I never really thought about it; just getting concert tickets on time was enough. But this is way beyond that. They recognize me as an artist. It's truly amazing."
Asked if you feel less tired now?
"I am more tired than before, cried more and got a headache last night. When I got home, I just slept with a headache. But it became a driving force, like ‘I can't die now. They know me; I must continue being Milli. I can't change my name now.’"
Do you think they would understand if you wanted to say something to them?
"Well... come to Thailand (laughs). Want a guide to show you around? No, I’m not brave enough. Just for BTS to wish me luck on getting tickets is enough, because I also have to compete with others (points to fans). I want front-row seats, close enough so if they look down, they might recognize me. That's enough. Don't call them to talk (meaning about tickets). I always get tickets."
Any plans to follow them in other countries?
"I want to go, but the costs are high — plane tickets, accommodation."
But you're a famous artist?
"Famous but sometimes no money. If I win a show and get money, I’ll spend it on them (laughs)."
Did you compete hoping they would see you?"No one thought they would watch the show. I joined because it was an opportunity in my life, so I grabbed it and gave it my all. I watch the show Show Me The Money and like hip-hop. When I had the chance, I went for it. Please look forward to the next episode this Thursday, which will be the Show Vision and first performance round. Let's see how Milli will grow.""But I must say, the songs have grown with me. Everyone will see many sides of me, which are all truly me. And you will continue to see this for sure because everything is truly me. This album is all mine. Lastly, thank you for the Album of the Year award from the TOTY Awards. It really made me feel less tired. Thank you very much."
