Following the shocking news of the passing of Neng Mengjai, also known as Neng Komadi Krub, the well-known comedian, early this morning (19 Mar 2026), it deeply saddened comedy fans. Neng Mengjai was a beloved comedian in the comedy circle, admired by fans and cherished by fellow comedians.
Recently, Thairath Entertainment contacted Mr. The Comedian, a fellow comedian and friend of Neng who visited him at the hospital the night before his death. He revealed that Neng Mengjai was diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer that had spread to the lungs, his condition deteriorated until he suffered sudden cardiac arrest and died.
"Yesterday evening, I spoke with Neng after seeing his posted photo; he looked very thin. I wondered why he had lost so much weight so quickly. I thought maybe he was just getting fit, but it seemed too rapid. My wife suggested I call him or his wife to check if something was wrong.
I then learned that he had been examined and diagnosed with cirrhosis initially. At first, it was unknown if it was cancer. The initial diagnosis was cirrhosis. Further examination, including a CT scan, revealed two masses in the liver. The doctor was not yet certain what they were.
Neng didn’t have time for continuous treatment because he kept accepting work. He was a dedicated worker who rarely took leave. He said he would rest after finishing his current job and planned to see the doctor the following week, so he postponed treatment.
After returning from a job out of town, his wife took him to the doctor because he seemed weak. On the way, they spoke normally, but upon arrival at the hospital, his condition worsened. He was confused, spoke incoherently, and when I called his wife Ice, she was crying. I also spoke with Neng, but he barely recognized me and was not coherent.
After hanging up, we learned that the masses were likely advanced pancreatic cancer. Doctors suspected it had spread to the lungs, causing the severe condition.
We didn’t expect it to be so fast. We thought, okay, cancer is diagnosed, we’ll treat it. I told my wife to visit him. I stayed with him until 4 a.m. When I arrived, he was receiving medication and blood transfusions. We were waiting for the senior doctor to examine him in the morning. I told his wife to prepare herself; the treatment was symptomatic.
I stayed until 4 a.m. and went home. At 7 a.m., Neng’s wife called to say his heart had failed. She called again to inform me that Neng had passed away at 8:20 a.m."
