A senior comedian who has known him for a long time. “Nui Chuenyim” Yesterday, he attended the funeral wake of his younger brother, “Neng Mengjai.” He shared his feelings after losing a junior comedian, describing him as a considerate and consistently kind person, very lovely, and never causing trouble. He also explained why the cremation date was postponed. He told reporters he learned of the news on the night of the 18th while he was in Chiang Mai. The Comedian called around 11:30 p.m. to say that “Neng” had suddenly been hospitalized after fainting, and his wife took him there. Since he was in Chiang Mai, he called Nong Ball Chuenyim to inform him that Neng was suddenly hospitalized. Nong Ball was performing a concert at the time. After finishing, he called Nong Ice, and they agreed to visit in the morning and decide whether to transfer Neng to another hospital for better treatment. Then, at about 8 a.m., the same Comedian called again—once when Neng was admitted and again when Neng passed away. It was too late.
No one knew about his illness at all because they had been together since the Ha Company until later at Madikrab. He was normal and performed in his usual style. Neng was very considerate—too considerate, even when joking together, he was hesitant. They had to encourage him to come out and perform a bit without fear. Since Neng was so considerate, even when he was ill, he didn’t tell his brothers and sisters until later. After leaving Madikrab, he took a break or went for treatment, as he decided. Then he stayed with Yern Scorpion for about two months. He posted photos on Facebook with the group, and they noticed he looked gaunt and thinner. They wondered if he was taking care of himself since many of them exercised, like running or cycling. But his stomach looked bloated, so they thought maybe it was from drinking. Neng and I liked drinking and singing all night.
The last time I saw Neng was probably at a concert by Ajarn Der Dok Sadao for charity. Neng looked normal then, still bright-faced and not very thin. After that, he gradually lost weight. I even messaged him on Facebook when he posted with Pong Hin Lek Fai, telling him to take care of his health because I missed him. Just a few days later, Neng drained ten liters of fluid and flew somewhere. We all warned him, including his wife and colleagues, telling him to rest and see a doctor first, but Neng wouldn’t listen. As an actor by nature, he had accepted jobs and was worried about letting others down, which made him reluctant to stop. Sometimes he was hesitant because he feared disappointing friends, though everyone understood the concern.
He showed no symptoms at all. Only Brother Tuck Boriboon noticed Neng looked thin lately but didn’t dare ask much, only gave small reminders. I arrived at 3 p.m. and brought the usual karaoke machine for singing. I asked Nong Ball if it was okay to bring karaoke for anyone who wanted to sing or send their voices to the heavens, like we did at Brother Robert’s event. Nong Ball agreed, so we set it up outside. We also apologized to each other for any past acting quarrels or playful head taps and teasing. We forgave each other.
I said Neng was the loveliest person, always kind since the days at the café where we first met. We worked together since 2015, and Neng was consistently kind, never doing anything disgraceful. He was very lovely but left us too soon, before enjoying a comfortable life. The cremation was initially scheduled for Sunday the 22nd, but “Pee Mum” is currently in another province at a food festival in Laos. He wants to attend the funeral, so they postponed it. Nong Ball said Pee Mum will be the host. I should mention that Nong Ball has a job in the southern provinces during that time, so he may attend intermittently. The cremation is now set for the 25th instead of the 22nd. There will still be a concert. Pee Mum wants to be there to listen to the prayers and say goodbye to Neng, whom he loved like a son. Neng appeared in all of Pee Mum’s films; he loved him deeply.
