Everyone is truly affected by the fuel shortage due to the Middle East war situation. Jack Green from Thairath Entertainment asked about this issue with Leua Feua Mokjak, the famous comedian,
who said it affects everyone but he doesn't want people to panic too much. Otherwise, no one would spend money, and the economy wouldn't circulate. However, he admitted he was affected by the shortage, stopping at a gas station where they only allowed him to fill 500 baht worth of fuel.
Regarding the matter that Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister, said the fuel shortage is because people are hoarding fuel themselves, but there were reports from Ang Thong province of a company stockpiling 300,000 liters. That counts as hoarding, but whether that is citizens or not is unclear—they are traders.
"It affects everyone, every profession is suffering, but I don't want people to be overly alarmed. Otherwise, no one will spend money; everyone will hoard their cash, and the economy won't circulate. I want people to live as they did before, without too much panic. As for the economy, let the government handle it. Whether they can fix it or not, we'll see."
"Since fuel prices are high, I avoid unnecessary travel, but it's still necessary because we rely on vehicles daily. We all suffer from this."
"Asked if he ever arrived at a gas station without fuel available, he said not yet, but they limited refueling to 500 baht. He hasn't traveled to the provinces yet, but relatives told him not to come yet because they have no fuel to sell there."
"I heard the Prime Minister say the shortage is due to citizens hoarding fuel, according to his own words from the news. It's not that fuel is truly missing, but the 300,000 liters found hoarded in Ang Thong is considered hoarding. Whether those are citizens or not, I don't know, but they are traders. As for citizens hoarding, that means every citizen."
"But don't panic too much, or everyone will hoard even more. Especially with false news saying to prepare money for 4-5 months. The economy is weak now; if such announcements spread, people won't spend money. We have to keep fighting. We got through COVID-19, so we must get through this. If we have to go back to the Stone Age, we must be ready. Just think that it won't kill us, but still, we have to live as usual and avoid panic."
