DJ Matoom Clarifies Interview on South Koreas Energy Situation, Says It Reflected a Travelers Perspective

After DJ Matoom Techin Ploypetch gave an interview about the energy situation in South Korea, saying he did not see Koreans lining up at gas stations to fill up, but noted he might not have visited areas where queues form since he was in the city. From what he saw firsthand in Korea, people there seemed to be living normally—at least more normally than in many other Asian countries. He affirmed he was not embarrassed to say he was Thai but noted that some systems in Korea operate very efficiently. He added that as humans, we must endure, especially as people living in this country (Thailand), where endurance is required to a certain extent. His answer sparked some controversy.

Recently, DJ Matoom posted news images and videos along with a clarification about the interview, stating: "I would like to clarify the interview regarding the energy situation in South Korea. My answer yesterday during the 'Aum Aum' event on the topic 'Did they have a crisis in Korea?' reflected the 'short-term daily life experience' as a traveler. In the context I was in, I did not see significant changes in daily life, so I answered based on what I perceived at that time."

However, I did not intend to describe the overall national situation or provide energy policy information, nor did I mean to imply there was 'no crisis' at all. National-level information should primarily come from government agencies and relevant sources, not from tourists who just went to see a concert."

I am well aware that the energy situation is an important and sensitive issue. I thank everyone for their feedback, which helps me see different perspectives, and I will improve my communication more carefully."

Finally, I believe that listening to comprehensive information and communicating with reason will help society understand the situation more constructively. Thank you all for your understanding, and I apologize to those who were misled."
