Smooth Resolution! Jai Thaitosamit Happy with Both Sides After Clearing the Air with GMM over Oh Cocktail Resignation

Regarding the case where Oh Cocktail officially announced stepping down from his executive roles at GeneLab and 19, subsidiaries of GMM Music. The company will continue managing artists and independent labels not affiliated with GMM Music.

This matter caused Jai Thaitosamit or Jai Ishankorn Phuengkiatratsamee to post a message saying, “We, Thaitosamit, have known about this all along and did not expect the outcome to be like this. Honestly, I’m saddened. I understand and respect the path chosen by the seniors, but I cannot accept it and hope the label (GMM) will provide a good explanation to me.”

Recently, Jai gave an interview on this matter, saying the issue has been resolved and both sides are happy. He explained he posted because he wanted a clear explanation, and once he received it, the matter was settled. He acknowledged his post might have seemed blunt but added it was just his style and not rude.

How about the music label situation?

“Regarding GMM, yes, we have reached an agreement and both sides are happy. I think news will come out soon. Let's wait for the senior management to make official statements. There is a very good solution, so let's see.”

No conflict severe enough to break ties?

“Not at all. The message I wrote was clear—I just asked for an explanation. Once the seniors gave me that, it was over. Then we found a way forward together.

I also talk with Oh regularly. I think it’s better for him to answer himself. He has choices and new dreams as he stated in his announcement. I believe everyone, at some point, must choose the path they think is best. I’m still working with the label as usual and collaborating on some projects. Some things might change. I think there will be one official announcement soon.”

I think this is normal for a music label. This isn’t the first case like this. Actually, it’s not so severe that people keep posting angry comments. It was just a brief shock because everyone was surprised. I was shocked, and the juniors in the label were shocked too. Everyone knew about these things roughly.

But no one expected that once Oh made the announcement, everyone would be shocked. Everyone needed to protect their interests or their bands and figure out how to proceed. With executives leaving and team members departing, we had to talk with the label and other bands in the company less often. I think each band has different options, and the directions might not be the same.”

Are you still working with the label yourself?

“Yes, I still have a contract with GMM. People might see my post as aggressive, but it’s not. I just said the label needed to give me an explanation, that’s all. It might seem blunt, just my style, but I don’t think it was rude. When the seniors gave me a good explanation, I was satisfied.

Because above all, I must say that everyone probably knows I’ve also started my own label. I’ve been in this industry, making music, and growing mostly thanks to GMM Grammy and the knowledge I gained there, which I then used to develop and open my own label. This can’t be denied.”

Oil prices have gone up again?

“Oh, really? The oil price went up? I haven’t followed the news, but I’m supporting it, helping to sustain the price from one side. I’ll wait until it hits around 100 before filling up. I’m happy (Are all our team vehicles running smoothly now?) Yes, filling up happily. This shows the economy is good, meaning people have more money. Prices are higher, so everyone is spending on expensive things because we have money, right?”

Getting rich to the point of desperation?

“Rich to the point of desperation, yes. I hope this standard continues for another four years. For anyone still working, keep going. I’m very happy (laughs).”
