Sai Charoenpura Sai Charoenpura revealed the effects of the soaring fuel crisis directly impacting the entertainment industry, disclosing that some film crews have had to step back and postpone filming because they cannot afford the fuel costs for power generation.
Sai explained that the current high fuel prices are not a distant issue for those working on film sets, since electricity is essential for production. To generate electricity, they rely on power generators that consume large amounts of fuel, along with transportation costs for vans shuttling crew and actors, causing production costs to skyrocket dramatically.
This situation has had a direct impact, forcing some productions or certain shooting schedules to be postponed, especially those requiring heavy lighting or night shoots that demand large amounts of electricity. Many crews are hesitant and waiting to see if fuel prices will drop, as continuing to shoot now could lead to unsustainable costs.
Some might think this issue is unrelated, but it is very much connected. At this moment, the question arises whether to suspend night shoots because they use so much electricity, and even travel arrangements have colleagues asking if they should carpool to save costs.
Right now, they can only support each other day by day while waiting for key government policies after Songkran to see how the situation will move forward. She concluded by saying she believes everyone in the industry is fighting through these challenges and affected alike, but no one gives up easily because everyone must move forward together.
