Toomtam, Former Child Star, Posts Tribute to Grandmother Chala Prasopsart Who Passed Away Peacefully

It is sad news for the entertainment industry when Chala Prasopsart the famed senior female artist and actress, passed away peacefully from old age on the morning of 6 Apr 2026 GMT+7 at the age of 98.

On the personal Facebook page of Toomtam Wasin Meepraya a well-known former child actor and the son of Pirawan Prasopsart, a famous actress and grandson of Chala Prasopsart, he posted a childhood photo with his grandmother and wrote a tribute: “RIP Grandma Chala Prasopsart. May you rest in peace. Thank you for all the lessons you taught me.”

The Daraphaphan Movie Stars page posted condolences and shared Chala Prasopsart's background: “Grandma Chala was born on 21 Mar 1928 GMT+7. She was educated at Sanguan Sri School and Phuttharam School, which laid the foundation for her knowledge and outlook on life.

Grandma Chala was a true artist, a talented singer with many fans in her era. She was the original artist who recorded the song #BrightMoonInTheSky (first recorded in 1951 CE, performed by Chala Prasopsart).

She was also a skilled actress who left many works in the industry through her talent and dedication. Grandma Chala entered the entertainment industry during the golden age of Thai television dramas, leaving behind valuable works such as "Phu Kong Yod Rak," "Dao Pra Suk," "King Malika," "Bitter Honey," and "Lost in the Moonlight," among others.

Beyond her personal achievements, Grandma Chala was the central figure of a prominent entertainment family. Her daughter, Pirawan Prasopsart, became a famous leading actress, and her grandson, Toomtam Wasin Meepraya, a renowned child actor, has continued the family legacy with many notable works in the entertainment industry.”
