It became a topic of online criticism when a young comedian actor Nai The Comedian performed comedy at the market opening event of Mam Jokmok and Nong Chachacha, featuring Jeed his wife dressed all in white holding a donation box on stage, mentioning an amount of 32,000 baht, which many linked to Ice Thalachanun the wife of Neng Mengjai the late young comedian who had previously been involved in a funeral donation money controversy.
Recently, Thairath Entertainment's Jack Green inquired with Nai The Comedian about the issue, including questions regarding a video he recorded of the atmosphere when Neng's ashes arrived at the house of Neng's sister, Kay, in which a mysterious sound was heard near the end.
Asked about the surprise show for the team, he said?
“Oh, that was at Mam and Nong's market event in Nakhon Nayok Province. The crew was performing, and I intended to help open the market. Actually, comedians often cover popular topics; it’s a normal thing.”
Some wondered if it was a jab at someone?
“As I said, others already do these covers. When something is popular, no matter what news it is, comedians play on it. Back in my day, we covered Nice Chewmjit; it was all in good fun, so people could make jokes. Don’t overthink it.”
Some comments asked if the matter was unresolved since he still talks about it?
“I don’t know about some comments; some think it’s an old clip and question why it’s posted again. But it’s not. I want people to see it as light entertainment.”
So there was no ill intent?
“No, I did it just for laughs. I knew people would find it funny naturally. Brother Ball even said he laughed so hard. It was just a joke among friends.”
Some pointed out the mention of 32,000 baht, suggesting it mocked someone?
“It’s a cover, so there are phrases that might be similar or related, but I didn’t intend to poke at anyone. Some relatives on that side even joked with me; they weren’t harsh.”
Relatives on Ice’s side commented?
“Yes, I still see comments. I checked photos from Neng’s event; they commented there too.”
Any clarification for those who misunderstood?
“If seen from another angle, it might seem inappropriate. He’s a person; it’s serious. I apologize but didn’t mean it to go that far. Please see it as lighthearted. Nowadays, comedians cover popular social media topics. If anyone was upset, I apologize.”
Have you talked with Ice?
“No, we haven’t talked since then. I apologized but haven’t heard from her.”
Will you do shows like this again?
“I won’t perform outside because it’s not our event but a concert. This was a private event, kind of closed. The market event isn’t fully closed but felt like among friends and siblings. I didn’t want to offend anyone. It was all my idea; my wife said, ‘Go make people laugh.’ If it makes people smile and laugh, I’m fine.”
What about the mysterious sound at the end of the clip that day? What was it?
“I don’t know. When I posted it, I didn’t listen. We edited the clip and added sounds. Do we have to swear or explain over something like this? I was upstairs at Kay’s house; others were downstairs. I went downstairs and posted the clip, then drove to Nong’s market, not thinking about the clip. Later, comments said there was a sound. I thought people were stirring trouble.”
“Then Brother Ball called me saying, ‘Hey, what’s that sound at the end?’ So I asked my wife to play it. I listened 4-5 times alone. There was no noise downstairs or anyone crying. It might be internet signal interference. It was a square room like a bedroom, the door open. That room was a prayer room where Neng’s sister kept their father’s ashes and photos of their father and Neng. I don’t know.”
“It’s a matter of belief.”
“Yes, from Neng’s belief, it’s at home. From a scientific view, it could be signal interference with sounds coming through.”
