One thing many people wonder about and say unanimously is, what did Mother Hai do to lose so much weight? She gave an interview to Thairath Entertainment. She said she didn’t do anything special, just worked hard. Before going on stage, she only eats two onsen eggs to stay energized. After the performance, she drinks lime juice to keep her voice clear and prepare for the next job. She wants to eat other things but can’t because there’s no time, which has caused her to slim down—a chef-like figure.
Why is the response this year so great? What happened?
“Exactly, what happened? Even though there weren’t any new songs earlier this year, the new song "Started" just came out about 5-6 days ago and has already reached nearly 2 million views. Thank you everyone for the support and attending events. At the recent event, people came from all over the province, dressing up as Arpaporn.”
All the outfits I wear now have to be newly tailored because the audience has expectations and I feel pressured. So far, spending just on clothes in the last three months has nearly reached a million baht—several hundred thousand. I don’t even know where to keep all these outfits now. I might have to adapt and reuse them for future events. Sometimes I ask to adapt old outfits; please don’t expect too much because I have no more closet space.”
People say you’ve lost a lot of weight. Is it from working hard or did the weight drop automatically?
“Honestly, I want to eat, maybe it’s also because I’m getting older. After going on stage, I have to rush to the next event. I want to eat but can’t—only onsen eggs to stay energized, which is another secret. I also drink lime juice to clear my throat so I can continue singing at the next event fully.”
Have you received many review offers?
“They are flooding in. I even have endorsements now. I don’t know what kind of year this is for Arpaporn. Back in 1997 when the country was hit by the financial crisis and many people went bankrupt overnight, my song "Quit" was a hit, as if my luck was a breakthrough. Things that were declining elsewhere were rising for me. At the same time, I continue to support Buddhism. If we don’t make merit, how will religion survive? We have to distinguish that those who rely on monkhood cannot survive without support. I also pay respect to household deities every Tuesday and make offerings to them so they are satisfied and will send blessings to me.”
