Profile of Ryu Wachirawit: From Thai Youth Table Tennis Player to Rising Star Actor Enlisting in the Military

He won full admiration and caused a stir when Channel 3’s rising young leading man "Ryu Wachirawit Wattanaputi" traveled to enlist for national service without going through the lottery draft. Earlier this year, he said he had planned to serve his country and felt the timing was just right. Even though he was filming three dramas, it was not an issue because his mother arranged his schedule so he finished filming on time.

He also viewed that enlisting would take about six months and saw it as an opportunity to gain new experiences. Having seen only fictional portrayals of beloved commanders, he was ready to enjoy the experience, including doing push-ups. He will enter military service in the second conscription batch in November 2026.

Regarding Ryu Wachirawit's background,

- Ryu Wachirawit Wattanaputi was born on 10 October 2000. He is currently 25 years old, the eldest son in his family, with one younger brother.

- He completed primary education at Amphonpaisan School, secondary education at BFS School, and earned a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Thammasat University.

- Ryu began his sports path at age 9. Being a child addicted to video games, his father encouraged him to try sports instead, including swimming, football, taekwondo, badminton, and table tennis—the sport he liked best. He practiced after school and developed his skills to become a national youth table tennis athlete.

- He started his entertainment career by telling a senior he wanted to be a model to pay for his own tuition. That senior introduced him to "Pa Tue Sombat Sirisaro," a famous organizer and modeling agent.

- Pa Tue gave him the opportunity to walk the runway as he wished, and his first work was appearing in the 2014 music video "Written for You" by the band Scooper.

- At about age 13-14, he began casting for roles and signed a contract with Channel 3.

- Later, Channel 3 allowed him to join the 9x9 (Nine By Nine) project under 4NOLOGUE and act in the popular Nadao Bangkok series "Blood Ties" in 2018, playing "Macau Jiraanun," which brought him fame.

- After the project ended, he returned to Channel 3 and got his first drama role in "May-December True Love" starring Donut Manasnan, marking his full emergence as a leading man.

- His first film role was in "16 Hao 19 Duad," playing "Gun" in 2023.

- He also starred in the film "Everybody Loves Me When I’m Dead" as "Phet," acting alongside Ken Theeradej, which aired on Netflix.

- Additionally, Ryu acted in "Matilda" and "Blood of the Chao Phraya," with ongoing projects including "When the Sun Sets, It’s Time for the Stars" as Kimhan and "Love Emerges on Heaven Island" as the lead character, Chalam.

- Recently, Ryu Wachirawit's name caused another buzz when he enlisted for national service without the lottery draft, joining the second conscription batch in November 2026.
