
The atmosphere at the funeral water pouring ceremony Pradit Mahathai The father of the female luk thung singer Ja Nongpanee Mahathai was filled with sorrow, with many fans and entertainment industry figures expressing their condolences to the Mahathai family at their home in Sa-wang-ha District.
On 12 Apr at Village No. 12, Sa-wang-ha Subdistrict, Sa-wang-ha District, Ang Thong Province, a funeral water pouring ceremony was held for Pradit Mahathai, Ja Nongpanee's father. The atmosphere was deeply mournful, with numerous fans, local residents, and entertainment figures offering their condolences to the Mahathai family. The ceremony was led by Phra Suwannawachirathon (Prawet Sutthiyanano), the provincial Buddhist leader of Ang Thong, as the Buddhist ceremony chairman, and Mr. Ekachai Sriwichai served as the lay ceremony chairman. Additionally, Big Achiraphon Wongariyak, Ja's boyfriend, attended to show support and comfort her.
Pradit Mahathai, aged 68, was involved in a severe traffic accident when he was hit by a pickup truck on 28 Jan 2026. He sustained serious injuries and was treated in the ICU before peacefully passing away on 12 Apr 2026 after more than two months of treatment following the accident, which occurred while he was riding a motorcycle.
The family will hold merit-making ceremonies at their home in Sa-wang-ha District. The funeral water pouring ceremony took place today at 16:00, followed by daily Buddhist chanting ceremonies at 18:00 until 15 Apr. The cremation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 16 Apr, at 16:00.
