In a sad family incident, Pradit Mahathai, father of famous luk thung singer Ja Nongpanee Mahathai, passed away peacefully after suffering an accident and undergoing more than two months of hospital treatment, amid the sorrow of his family and fans.
Most recently, at 10:30 p.m., Ja Nongpanee showed full artist spirit by departing Ang Thong province after completing the first night of watering and chanting funeral rites for her father, Pradit Mahathai, then immediately traveled to perform as scheduled at the “Maeklong Shaken, Mackerel Startled” event in Samut Songkhram province.
Upon arrival, Ja and her team, including dancers, wore black mourning attire and took the stage to bring joy to fans and the audience without showing signs of weakness despite her recent loss. Ja was determined to spread happiness so that no one would share in her sorrow during the over one-hour performance.
Ja fully entertained her fans. After the show, she said goodbye and immediately boarded a van to return for her father’s merit-making ceremony. Fans from Samut Songkhram attending the concert, upon learning of Ja’s loss, dressed in black and white to watch the performance and pay their respects.
Ja posted a heartfelt message on social media addressed to her father.“Dad... look! Was Nong Lek good today? So many people came to support Nong Lek. In front of the stage, everyone was holding up two fingers and hearts. Dad, don’t worry about me, P’Pek, or Mom. I will take good care of everyone. Sleep well tonight. See you tomorrow.”
