Ploychompoo Shocked as Fire Erupts on Stage: Life-Threatening Escape and Five Crew Members Electrocuted

It became a life-or-death moment having to run from fire for the first time while singing on stage for "Ploychompoo" Yannine Parawit Weigel who faced an unexpected incident when fire suddenly burst out in front of her during a concert in Betong District, Yala Province, on 12 April. Ploychompoo opened up to Thairath Entertainment about the event, saying

That day, she performed at the Songkran concert in Betong, Yala. Before the fire broke out, there were several problems, such as power outages at the event and other minor issues. Her team tried to help the organizers fix these problems so the event could continue, which delayed her scheduled performance.

When it was finally time to perform, there was little time left, so the show had to be shortened. Near the end, she was singing the song "Pliew" when the municipal fire truck was spraying water for Songkran festivities. At that moment, water sprayed onto an electrical outlet placed in front of the stage—although it really shouldn't have been there. This caused an electric short and the fire suddenly erupted. At that moment, everything broke apart—the singer, the musicians, the crew, and the audience.

Asked if there were any warning signs before the incident, Ploychompoo said there were none because she was focused on singing. She only realized when water splashed in and the electric shock caused fire right before her eyes. At first, many thoughts crossed her mind, including thinking someone had set fire or it was a stage effect.

But since the fire was real and she didn’t have time to identify what was happening, she quickly got off the stage because it was something that shouldn’t have happened there. She is completely safe and uninjured. What concerned her was learning afterward that five crew members were electrocuted because they were near the area trying to help clear people and protect the equipment. Fortunately, none of the audience were harmed, and no one suffered serious injuries.

She said she felt shocked and frightened because the incident happened very quickly and she never expected such a thing to happen, especially at a festival event. She was worried about herself and everyone else, especially the audience who were crowded at the front of the stage. She feared the fire might spread to someone, but luckily everyone remained calm and evacuated the area promptly.

“I admit that after the incident, I couldn’t sleep and felt uneasy about what happened. I only fell asleep while riding the car to the next province.

I want to thank all the fans who were very concerned. As soon as they saw the news, many quickly sent messages to ask about us. Right now, Ploychompoo and all the team members are fine. I feel very uplifted knowing so many people support and care for us. Thank you all so much.”
