The wedding ceremony deeply impressed fans, featuring an ancient Northeastern (Isan) traditional wedding of a famous couple. Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Urassaya Sperbund held yesterday (17 Apr 2026). The event included the groom’s procession, a wrist-tying ritual, and the engagement ring ceremony.
Another touching moment was the atmosphere when Nong Hong Nadech’s younger sister, performed the foot-washing ceremony for her brother according to the ancient Northeastern wedding tradition. Nadech’s mother, Mae Kaeo, posted a video clip along with a message explaining that
"According to the ancient tradition of the Northeastern groom… before the engagement ceremony with the bride, the groom’s feet must be thoroughly washed. Then, the groom steps on stones placed on whole banana leaves without tearing or damaging them. Next, the younger brother or sister uses a ladle to pour water and wash the groom’s feet three times, drying them carefully with a cloth. Then they carry the groom’s engagement tray upstairs to begin the ceremony with the bride. This ritual brings auspiciousness to the marriage, ensuring lasting love, beauty, sweetness, and stability for a lifetime."
