A tragic case: a 70-year-old disabled grandmother with a leg amputation and terminal cancer traveled to the Facebook page “Sai Mai Must Survive” seeking help after lending 100,000 baht to a friend who claims to be waiting for repayment from her famous actress daughter. However, after 7 years, no repayment has been made, and she now lacks funds for treatment and needs money for a prosthetic leg.
At 10:30 a.m. on 19 Apr 2026 at the Facebook page Sai Mai Must Survive, Wat Ko Road, Sai Mai District, Bangkok. Mrs. Chonthicha Payakpong Age 70, a former government official who served as a senior policy and planning analyst at the Ministry of Education, suffers from terminal cancer and underwent an amputation below the right knee. Using a wheelchair, she came to request assistance. Mr. Ekaphop Ruangprasert Founder of the Facebook page Sai Mai Must Survive. After a former acquaintance borrowed 100,000 baht and refused to repay for over 7 years, Mr. Ekaphop, who is terminally ill with cancer, pleaded for the famous leading actress to repay the debt. The debtor claims to be waiting for money from her daughter. The victim has filed a police report at Sam Roi Yot Police Station, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, on 23 Nov 2019.
The victim tearfully stated that in 2019, after receiving her retirement pension, she lent 100,000 baht—the last of her pension money—to a close friend she knew through government circles for a forest planting investment project.
However, when the repayment was due, she received nothing and was continuously delayed. The debtor promised to repay later and offered 200,000 baht in interest, totaling 300,000 baht, with an agreement in April to pay in three installments. With about 10 days left in the month, no repayment was made, with the excuse of waiting for money from her daughter, a famous actress and TV host.
Over the past 7 years, she has not received any agreed repayments. Meanwhile, her health has deteriorated severely, having been diagnosed with cancer in 2018 that spread to her lungs and bones, resulting in the amputation of her right leg. She now requires oxygen support to breathe.
The victim added that she currently has only a few tens of thousands baht in her account from relatives' support, while the cost of a prosthetic leg ranges from 200,000 to 400,000 baht, preventing her from receiving timely treatment.
She emphasized that her purpose in appealing is not for publicity but simply to recover the 100,000 baht debt plus interest to fund her treatment and prosthetic leg, with an assessment appointment scheduled for May.
She called on the debtor and her family, especially her famous daughter in the entertainment industry, to take responsibility and repay the borrowed money to allow her a chance to live her remaining time with dignity.
The victim tearfully revealed that the latest medical evaluation stated an urgent need for a prosthetic leg costing between 200,000 and over 300,000 baht, depending on equipment quality, but her current financial situation makes treatment inaccessible.
Furthermore, after signing a debt collection agreement and setting the first payment installment on 15 April, she has only received 2,400 baht. Follow-up demands yielded less than 5,000 baht more, insufficient even for the oxygen supply essential for life.
She explained that she depends on an oxygen machine constantly because cancer has spread to her lungs, making breathing difficult. The oxygen equipment is costly, and her husband must provide 24-hour care. Without it, her life is at risk.
Mr. Ekaphop Ruangprasert, founder of Sai Mai Must Survive, stated that this is a civil dispute and the victim can pursue legal action. However, given the 7-year duration and the victim’s serious illness, he appeals for the debtor to take responsibility promptly.
He also urged the debtor and her family, especially the famous daughter in the entertainment industry, to show compassion and repay the money without waiting for legal action, as the legal process may take too long to meet the victim’s urgent medical needs.
The victim reiterated that she only wants the borrowed money returned to pay for treatment and a prosthetic leg so she can live the remainder of her life.
