Moddam Admits Mistake After International Fans Accuse Him of Harassing Namtan Thipnaree, Urges Thai Fans Not to Use Old Photos

A controversy erupted immediately when international fans posted a clip showing Namtan Thipnaree, an actress from the series Girl Rules, appearing on the program 'Chae' hosted by Moddam Kachapa. They posted it on X with the message: “Namtan was harassed on this show by the same host. He touched her leg multiple times, even pulling her and trying to hug her. Each time, Namtan clearly showed discomfort and tried to move away,” tagging GMM TV to urge the agency to protect their artist. They viewed this as sexual harassment (HARASSMENT IS A CRIME) causing the actress distress.

Meanwhile, Thai netizens came to Moddam’s defense, explaining the behavior was a motherly affection gesture since Moddam is LGBTQ+ and close to actors in the industry. This sparked debate about cultural differences and appropriateness. They also shared old photos of Moddam dressed as a woman in the film 'Hor Taew Tak' to help international fans understand.

Recently, Moddam spoke on the program 'Khao Sai Kai' on Thairath TV Channel 32, saying he just learned there are new rules hosts must follow during interviews.

When interviewing BL or GL actors, extra caution is needed regarding physical contact to respect all parties according to international standards. Because international fans deeply care about their idols, hosts must be more careful, even if they know the artists well or have known them a long time.

Moddam also said he understands Thai fans want to defend him by posting his old 'Hor Taew Tak' photos in comments. He appreciates the goodwill but said seeing those photos makes him want to cry. “Feel free to criticize me, but please don’t post those old pictures. I beg you.” Then he apologized to Namtan, saying, “Dear Namtan, I’m sorry. Next time, we’ll sit farther apart. We must stop laughing to ourselves now.”

Rotmay further explained that international fans who pay to meet and watch their idols expect respect, so Moddam should not touch hands in that way.

Moddam said he understands Thai fans’ intentions and thanks them for their support, but asked again to criticize him without posting old photos like that.
