After Noom Kanchai the famous news host, has proceeded with a lawsuit against Poo Mantana following her continuous defamatory posts, including claims that false information was presented alleging he sent subordinates to intimidate and disrupt at court.
Recently, when meeting Noom Kanchai at the SALZ press conference for the launch of the “SALZ Ready to Fight” campaign at Eden Zone, 1st floor, CentralWorld, he addressed the issue, saying:
Is this issue now at a breaking point?
"Personally, I have filed several lawsuits against Poo Mantana. After taking legal action, I never spoke about her again, leaving it to the law to handle. But recently, what happened is very troubling. Poo posted claiming I sent people to disturb her in the deliberation room or in front of the bench at Nakhon Tai District Court.
To me, if she said I sent people to a shopping mall, I could understand. But to say it happened at court—am I really so bold as to do that? We never do that, especially since the case isn't even mine. Yet she distorts the facts and inputs false information into a computer system.
I think that's excessive because the court is a place where no one can behave like that. So I decided not to tolerate it and filed a lawsuit. Channel 3 then called me to discuss, since I had spoken about it on my show. I explained what happened, and Channel 3 later released the statement that everyone has seen."
Why do you think she believes you sent people?
"I honestly don't know. I can't answer that. I also want to know why she said or posted that, even commenting similarly on some pages. We've captured all those posts."
Have you investigated whether the events she claims actually happened?
"I called Khun Lookmee and lawyer Kung to ask what happened. They said nothing happened; friends of Lookmee and lawyer's people, unrelated to me, were involved. I don’t understand how this came to be. I'll have my lawyer request CCTV footage from the court to support the case and will bring others as witnesses."
Do you think the opposing party is mentally ill?
"I dare not say that. I cannot judge anyone's health or mental state. I don't interfere with that. From my perspective, I see her distorting facts about me, which are untrue."
Is there any event that could have caused her to think those people were yours?
"I can't answer that; she should be asked. I’m confident I’m not that kind of person, and I have never spoken about her."
If CCTV footage is requested, are you confident no one from your side was involved?
"One hundred percent. I have never sent anyone."
The opposing party posted that she filed a complaint and reported back to Channel 3 and you?
"That is Poo's right to claim if she feels harmed. We are open to legal processes. If she files a lawsuit or complaint, that’s her choice.
I’ve been waiting for two years now. When will it happen? I’m not challenging, just waiting to prove things. If she claims I’m dishonorable and harms her reputation, then she should take legal action. She can sue or report to the police. There’s no need to post defamatory things online.
Ultimately, it becomes a legal case for her, with costs like lawyer fees and travel. It’s better to save money since she has many cases to fight. It’s just not worth it."
Channel 3 should be renamed Channel Noom Kanchai—how do you feel about that?
"I don't know what to say. I think the audience should decide. If I say anything, it might not be good since we’re adversaries. It’s better to let the court decide."
What charges are you filing against her?
"I’m not a lawyer or judge, but I see this as distortion of facts and inputting false information into a computer system. The court will decide the extent. I’m just staying out of it; all my team members are at Channel 3, working on shows. I’ll ask them—if they’re accused of causing trouble, they may also take legal action."
Will you file both civil and criminal cases?
"Probably only criminal. I won’t go into civil to give her room to explain. I don’t want money or damages; I want my innocence regarding the accusations. If it means jail, then so be it. Everyone must take responsibility for their actions."
Does this situation trouble you since it’s been going on for years?
"Honestly, it never bothers me. I’ve been through a lot daily. This is just one issue among many and will pass. People can insult me, but if it crosses a line, I let the law decide if their actions are right or wrong."
So this time you’re ready to fight?
"Always ready, every time. I’m comfortable with this. Nothing like this can affect me. Whether they complain at the assembly or appear on shows to harm me, I sue. No need to argue pointlessly on social media."
How many cases do you have now?
"I can’t remember exactly, maybe 4-5. But this latest case is definite. Everything has a price, and it may not be money—it could be your freedom."
If she changes her mind and apologizes or removes the posts?
"It’s too late. You can’t just post anything and then apologize when it’s irreversible. If you mistakenly hit one dog, you’d question if you should do it. This isn’t the same—it’s like hitting ten times then saying sorry."
Have you encountered similar situations or people before?
"Not really, no. Nothing worth dwelling on. Before, there was Ajarn Odd, but we cleared things up. I don’t talk to Poo and have no reason to. We’ll meet only in court."
Will you have the chance to face her in court?
"Definitely. But where my lawyer can represent me, they will. If I need to attend, I will. I’m not hiding. As the plaintiff, why would I avoid the defendant? I’m ready to face her anytime."
Do you see her as a karmic enemy?
"No. My karmic enemy is Moddam alone (laughs)."
Are you worried this interview might lead to more lawsuits from her?
"I’m defending my rights, not defaming or damaging her. I always respect her and never call her inappropriate names. As for lawsuits, I leave it to my lawyers to handle."
After this, it’s up to her?
"I don’t care. I’m indifferent to what she posts, except when it goes too far, like this time. But that doesn’t mean I ignore insults. If I’m defamed, I will exercise legal rights. This case crossed the line because saying I sent people to disrupt in front of the bench in court is serious. It’s a court, not a gas station restroom. People’s perception of me matters."
She said your lawsuits ruined her life and her father passed away. Do you want to comment?
"What did I do? As I said, if she thinks I did what she claims, she should sue me in court and report to the police. I feel she speaks about me inappropriately. I rely on the court and police. I see no need to insult her. She can use her rights. She doesn’t need to tell me to wear a skirt. Just sue me. If I’m guilty, I’ll face harsher punishment. I don’t understand why she hasn’t sued me."
Are her insults vulgar or too harsh?
"I don’t know what to say about words. It’s not my place to criticize anyone. Ask her family. I’m indifferent. People can call me whatever, but if it infringes on my rights, I will use the law."
Finally, do you want to say anything to her?
"If she thinks I caused damage, she should sue me in court. Let the court decide instead of posting insults online. When you post insults about me, I use that to sue you. It will cost her lawyer fees and time. She should use the money to hire a lawyer to sue me."
