Aum Patcharapa Reveals Soaring Electricity Bills at Home: Willing to Pay Any Amount to Prevent Her Dog from Stroke

After Tuah, Aum Patcharapa’s beloved dog, Aum Patcharapa was diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumor cancer, Aum devoted all her time to caring for her dog, which has visibly caused her to lose weight. Recently, with the intense heat, every household has had to use air conditioning, leading to soaring electricity bills. Aum’s household has also been affected.

How have you been affected by the rising electricity bills and hot weather recently?

"Sigh, it affects every household. We can’t avoid turning on the air conditioning; otherwise, we risk heatstroke. It’s better to run it than face even higher costs later."

Are you worried about how much your electricity bill will increase during this time when many people are complaining about the prices?

"I’m not really sure because I don’t pay the bill myself—my father does, and I rarely ask. But I believe the bill has increased for every household. I guess all households are facing the same situation."

Is it more difficult to care for your dogs now? Do you need to use more electricity?

"I can endure the heat myself and don’t need the air conditioning on, but the dogs do. At night, I turn off the air around 11 p.m. and then back on around 6 or 7 a.m. because I worry if the air or power goes out, it could affect them. They have fur and get hotter than I do. I’ve noticed they pant heavily. I can tolerate the heat; if I’m sleeping, I prefer it cool, but if not, I can handle it."

There were reports that your dogs suffered strokes?

"Right now, I’m trying to be strong and reduce their exposure. Otherwise, I have to keep them on a leash, walk them in the shade, avoid letting them step on hot surfaces, and prevent them from running during the day. This helps protect them and prevents exhaustion. If I notice a dog panting heavily, I place water stations around and carry them to prevent overheating."

I check the ground temperature with my foot to see how hot it is and keep the air conditioning on for them into the evening. I’ve lost weight myself and have no time for myself lately. I went for an ultrasound yesterday; their lymph nodes are swollen, and they’ve had three rounds of chemotherapy. They eat very well but look much more worn out."
