Today was the cremation ceremony for Suphan Chancharoen, father of Lift Supot, at Siriphongthammanimit Temple. After the ceremony concluded, Lift spoke briefly to the media who had come to bid his father a final farewell and shared his feelings about the day.
Do you feel you have completed your duties fully today?
I consider everything complete, both the ceremony and emotionally. Many things have gone well. I'm happy for my father that it all passed smoothly and very grateful to everyone who came to see him off.
Did you walk alongside him before the ceremony?
Honestly, I didn’t have specific expectations about how things should be done; I followed the ceremony’s customs. My heart just wished for him to reach peace and to send him off as comfortably as possible.
Where will the ashes be scattered?
It will likely be tomorrow because my father liked to choose an auspicious time. He said whatever time is convenient, that’s the best. Tomorrow morning, we will collect the ashes to scatter them.
What is the location?
It will probably be the Chao Phraya River, somewhere nearby. Some relatives want to come but might find traveling difficult, so somewhere convenient in Bangkok is best.
How is your emotional state? Many people are concerned.
It’s hard to explain. Someone you’ve lived with for 50 years suddenly leaves your life—it’s heartbreaking. We have to understand it’s the natural order, learn gradually, and continue living happily with those still here. This event has shown me the support from close ones, all coming to encourage me. I’m very grateful to everyone who came.
