Fans and people in the entertainment industry were shocked when "DJ Nan" or Nan Kanda the talented DJ and host well known to 2000s music fans, tearfully shared her illness in a video clip. She revealed she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules, causing severe hoarseness and even complete voice loss, preventing her from speaking or hosting radio shows normally. She had to decide to take a full two-month break from work, a very difficult period for someone whose career depends on using their voice.
Recently, Thairath Entertainment had the chance to speak with DJ Nan about her current condition. She said her symptoms have slightly improved; her voice is returning, and she can speak somewhat, but she must still be careful with her voice.
DJ Nan admitted this is the most severe illness she has faced in her life. Over her more than 30-year career as a DJ and host, she has never taken long sick leave before.
During her absence from work, fans continuously sent messages asking about her and expressing concern. When she finally disclosed the truth about her illness, she could not hold back tears because of the accumulated stress and frustration.
However, she has begun to adapt and take better care of herself, applying mindfulness and Buddhist teachings in her life. She also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans and promised to look after her health. She shared the good news that she has now returned to hosting radio shows but must closely monitor her symptoms. If the vocal cord nodules do not shrink, her medical team recommends surgery as the most precise treatment.
