PimryPie, a well-known online seller, has faced heavy criticism. PimryPie The famous online merchant announced a live sale of durians priced at 100 baht each, sparking widespread buzz after receiving support from "Supachai Suthamphan" Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce.
Recently, Prairie Praiwan shared her opinion on the matter, stating,
"There's no problem with anyone selling lower-quality durians, misshapen or otherwise, at 150 baht or more if they can find buyers.
The issue lies in the grand promotion beforehand (with a minister's endorsement), claiming to provide Thai people with premium creamy-grade durians (showing large fruits weighing several kilograms) for just 100 baht each, totaling one million durians.
People with limited funds have high hopes. They admire the offer in advance. But if it turns out that the 100-baht durians they receive are not premium and are commonly available elsewhere,
is this approach truly fair to consumers' feelings? People may criticize me, but this is what I wonder and ask on behalf of many."
Following Prairie Praiwan's post, many people commented—some willing to support PimryPie and not concerned if the quality falls short, as it helps Thai farmers. Others noted that durians bought locally are often cheaper than those sold in the live stream.
