Previously, there was a clip showing Boom Panadda walking into the Department of Reserve Forces, Ministry of Defense, to apply as a reserve personnel under the Ministry of Defense, undergoing a formal interview process strictly following government regulations.
Boom previously explained about this rank, saying, “The military rank for reserve personnel is not new in my year. It has existed since 2023. My cohort is the third or fourth batch. The announcement for this position has been made for nearly a year. For the year I applied, batch 69, anyone could apply, but applicants must have relevant educational qualifications and work experience matching the selection criteria.
As far as I know, Panadda submitted the thickest application—very serious—because we decided, as I announced to everyone before I turned 50, that the rest of my life would be dedicated to serving the nation, and I intend to do just that. So I applied as seen, for the position of head of public relations. It’s based on age, not fame or celebrity status. When I am over 50, rank corresponds to age and educational qualifications. I have a doctorate and more than 20 certificates, all of which I submitted as required.
Importantly, I have real experience in the media industry. During the interview, nearly 30 candidates sat for the assessment. It wasn’t just for my department; there were sections related to energy, drones, science, and many others—not just public relations. But because my position is head of public relations, I had an advantage, having previously been spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration. This gave me an edge in working with the military, and being a spokesperson is a clearly defined role, which helped.
However, I had to pass a tough round of questioning for half an hour, being asked in detail about plans and approaches. They asked a lot. So I am very proud to have earned this position because the job application process was clear and extremely fair. Every step was photographed, and scores for first, second, third place were clearly recorded.”
Now, Boom Panadda is an "acting female lieutenant colonel." Recently, she posted an explanation about the rank, saying
“Regarding what I said about the reserve forces rank depending on age, this involves knowledge and skills matching the job field, as well as required experience, plus age as I mentioned. Details can be seen in the attached image. I did not mention qualifications and experience because those are prerequisites for applying. Next year, applications will open again, so please apply.”
However, Boom Panadda has not yet officially received the rank, as she must still complete 80 hours of coursework and field training before being awarded the rank.
