This is a moment that brought smiles to fans of actress and YouTuber Goy Oratchaporn. Goy Oratchaporn Pokinpakorn. and Tim Pita Limjaroenrat, former leader of the Move Forward Party, were delighted when a clip titled “Songkran in 3 Homes! 3 Countries! [GoyNattyDream]” appeared on the GoyNattyDream YouTube channel.
In one part of the video, Goy travels to Boston, USA, where she meets Tim Pita, who is currently in Boston with his daughter, Pim. Tim takes Goy hiking up Corey Hill Outlook Park, a public park on a hill. Although not very high, the trail is steep and takes about 25 minutes to climb. Normally, the park hosts a Pet Free Zoo with almost 20 dogs that locals bring for morning walks.
Goy then asks Tim, “People often ask, what exactly do you mainly do here, darling?” Tim replies that he is a Senior Democracy Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, which is a political school. As a Democracy Fellow, his role is to teach students and groom new politicians to re-enter the political system.
He explains that the democratic system is currently in disarray, lacking innovation for a long time. The Senior Democracy Fellows, about 25 worldwide, gather to think about how innovation or disruption in democracy should look like today, starting from scratch.
This group includes the vice president of the Venezuelan parliament, a former Thai prime minister candidate, a Bangladeshi member, and Americans who fought during the capital attack, all meeting to consider how to make democracy more than just elections.
Tim continues, “The reason I live in Brookline is because of the idea of a 15-minute city, similar to Paris. It means people should be able to live their lives mostly with themselves and family and complete errands within 15 minutes. For example, earlier I took Pim and Goy somewhere—it took about 9 minutes on foot. Whether it's to get a haircut, go to the library, gym, restaurants, or grocery stores, everything is within 15 minutes.”
“This 15-minute concept isn’t just a slogan; it’s backed by urban planning called multi-modal logistics, a seamless public transport system. Here, I hardly ever use a car. I take the train, walk a bit, then a bus loop, and back on the train to go home. The train stops are less than a kilometer apart, about 750 meters. So, if anyone visits Boston and doesn’t like big cities, try walking around Brookline,” he added.
