Amid the current economic situation, Bank Sornram has admitted that it has also affected the costs of running his likay troupe, especially due to soaring oil prices. This has led to wage adjustments for new jobs that have recently been requested to align with increased costs. However, for jobs with pre-signed contracts, Bank confirms that the original agreed prices will be maintained to reassure the sponsors and the audience.
"We have to accept the reality. We cannot raise the price for old jobs because those contracts have already been agreed upon, but new jobs must adjust according to oil prices, which most sponsors understand well," he said.
Bank added that the troupe’s performance schedule is currently booked solid for 2 to 3 years, especially during major festivals when it is very hard to find open dates. He concluded by saying that no matter how tiring it gets, he enjoys working because work is a way to learn new things every day.
