It was a quieter birthday than any before for Bird Technik or Bird, the boyfriend of Tangmo Nida, who has lost four very dear people over the past five years. Yet Bird remains strong, trying to stand up and fight on despite feeling lonely at times.
On his 40th birthday this year, Bird wrote about his life—though facing many hardships, he still has some luck: having no debts. Bird wrote,
"This birthday is quieter than any before. My mother has been gone for two years, my girlfriend for five, my grandmother for three, and my grandfather is also gone this year. This birthday feels very lonely, but I keep fighting. I don’t want to blow out candles or get gifts; I just wish those I love could be here, but it’s impossible.
Yet amidst the misfortune, there is some luck—I have already lost the hardest things. I’ve been through the toughest tests. It’s overwhelming sometimes, maybe too fast, but I think it won’t get any harder than this. No one can help us but ourselves.
I may look happy and smile, but no one knows how much I struggle inside, how bad it really is.
Now at 40, I still have nothing—no property, no car, no money. The future is unknown. But I do know one thing: I mustn’t have debt. Having no debt is my fortune.
My mother taught me that it’s okay not to have money, but never to have debt. I’ve remembered that since childhood. Though I haven’t always taken good care of my health, I have always followed her advice about avoiding debt.
I’m not a good or talented person, but I have never borrowed money from anyone or owed anyone. I have never cheated or stolen. Even when I had nothing, I never asked for free money or borrowed from anyone.
This year, I wish for better physical and mental health—that’s enough. I hope good things come to me and to all my friends, siblings, and everyone. May God protect and bless you all with strong health and happiness. Let’s keep fighting together."
Many followers sent Bird heartfelt support and numerous birthday wishes.
