Ying Rhatha opens up to clear up controversy over a major brand using her image in breach of contract, insisting she wants to end things amicably as she prepares to venture into her own business.
Actually, this concerns a contract that expired months ago. However, in recent days, people have captured evidence showing clips or commercial uses, including paid ads. We had discussed this since early April, when the contract was ending, that if the brand continued usage, we might have to warn them or post about it. After we posted, they called to apologize, saying it was their mistake and asked us to delete or hide the post first and then discuss further. We complied as they requested but made it clear this would be the last time since we had already resolved this once.
We had agreed to end the contract early and addressed the use of images. They promised to try to delete or stop using our images in media. Yet, even after a month, the images were still being used. So, we felt we had to post to clarify our position that the contract truly ended, to let the public know we are no longer associated with that brand. There are many details, but I prefer not to discuss them. I was the one who requested early termination, and we agreed amicably without issues. Today, they consider it a mistake that someone from their side uploaded content or ran ads. They shouldn’t be using our photos, clips, or voice anymore.
They promised to take responsibility and will likely post that our contract has ended. I’m not angry, but we must take a stand. If we do nothing, people will think we are still under contract, even though it has been over 30 days. Personally, I’m saddened because I always give my best when working on a brand. Supporters can continue to support that product, but as for my supplement business, I will pursue a different path. Please look forward to that.
I decided to delete the post because they apologized and asked to fix the backend issue about what happened. Regarding removing all my images, they requested another 30 days, which I think is too long and may require further discussion. I hope people understand my perspective. We were partners and I want to end things well. From now on, I plan to run my own business because working with others isn’t always satisfying. Doing it myself feels more comfortable, especially since I recently completed a master’s degree in this field. But that will be a little later; for now, I want to focus on work.
