The film has officially aired. "My Dearest Assassin" is the first Thai action-romantic drama film from Netflix. It blends intense close-combat fighting with a story about a rare and dangerous blood type and a young woman who decides to fight back to escape a lifetime of being prey.
The film "My Dearest Assassin" follows the story of “Lan” (played by Baifern Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul ), a young woman born with a rare special blood type who has been hunted since childhood after her parents were killed.
Lan was taken in by the 'House 89,' a family of assassins who became the only family she knew. Over time, the ruthless man who murdered her parents continues to relentlessly pursue her blood. But this time, instead of fleeing as before, Lan chooses to fight alongside those she loves.
The film “My Dearest Assassin” is directed by the talented Taweewat Wanta. In addition to intense action, the film blends romantic love stories to create a unique flavor, starring skilled actors such as Baifern Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul as “Lan,” a victim with special blood who refuses to surrender to fate.
Despite losing loved ones repeatedly, she remains steadfast, standing to fight alongside “Pran,” played by Tor Thanapob Leeratanakajorn, the heir of the assassin family House 89, who acts as a protector willing to sacrifice everything to defend his family and those he loves.
Joining them is another ally who stands by their side in every battle, “M,” played by Porsche Siwakorn Adulsuttikul, an orphan raised in House 89 alongside Pran and Lan, ready to stand firm for the family and friendships he is loyal to.
Also appearing is Tony Rakkaen as “Pruk,” a ruthless and merciless treasure hunter known as a 'hunter,' who will stop at nothing to claim what he desires. When Lan, his sole target, escapes, he is determined to scour the earth to seize her blood. Another actor is Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatthiti as “Po,” the leader of the professional assassin group House 89 and Pran's strict father, who saved Lan from being hunted and took her under his care.
“Lan,” a Vietnamese girl with a rare special blood type, is hunted by “Pruk,” a cold-blooded treasure hunter who murdered her parents. “Po,” the head of assassin family House 89, rescues her and hides her in Thailand. Lan is raised as a family member and grows up alongside “Pran,” Po’s biological son, and “M,” another orphan he adopted.
Pran is assigned to protect Lan with all his might, and their closeness gradually deepens into a profound relationship. However, their happiness shatters when their vengeful enemy Pruk tracks Lan down, intending to seize her blood, while Lan uncovers a shocking truth about her existence within House 89.
Fueled by revenge for her parents’ murder and the renewed targeting of her blood, Lan decides to fight alongside those she loves to gain freedom from being prey and to never run again.
Director Taweewat Wanta, known for his horror works, brings a raw and realistic style to the action scenes in this film. The trailer shows thrilling hand-to-hand combat, gunfights, and close-quarters battles.
Each character’s fighting style reflects their personality. For example, Pran (played by Tor Thanapob Leeratanakajorn ) moves with agility and high-level fighting skills including running, jumping, and climbing, while M (played by Porsche Siwakorn Adulsuttikul ) is an orphan raised in House 89 who fights with strength and uses surrounding objects as weapons.
Though Lan appears small and fragile, she is swift and precise, able to turn a small knife into a deadly weapon at will. The three witnesses House 89 transform from a warm refuge into a battlefield.
Tor Thanapob Leeratanakajorn talked about how "My Dearest Assassin" pushed him beyond previous action roles, saying, “This role involves intense and difficult action. Therefore, an actor’s endurance is very important. Physical preparation, assessing physical limits, and safety considerations are crucial not only for actors but also for the crew around them. Since I prepared physically and trained hard, I wanted to do my own stunts. So I worked very hard to avoid using a stunt double.”
Porsche Siwakorn Adulsuttikul, performing action fully for the first time, revealed, “The action scenes are very intense. Since “M” has learned and practiced fighting since childhood, his fighting depends on the situation and differs in each scene. I learned stunt techniques focused on fighting for the camera, including weight distribution and timing spins. The stunt team and director worked together to make our movements smooth, natural, and more enjoyable to watch.”
Lan is the emotional center of this family story. From a frightened child who lost everything, she grows into a young woman who chooses to stand and fight to avoid being prey forever.
Baifern Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul spoke about the theme of chosen family, central to Lan’s character: “Though not a family by blood, we can choose people in our lives whom we love, care for, and protect. This is what Lan discovers in House 89.”
Besides Lan, the film explores various relationship dynamics through characters such as Pran, defined by his fierce protection of loved ones in a world where he rarely expresses feelings openly; and M, who represents loyalty born from gratitude to House 89, which Po (played by Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatthiti) leads, having taken in orphans like him. M sees this assassin family as the only family he knows and is willing to sacrifice his life for their safety, even stepping back when both he and Pran have feelings for Lan.
