After her boyfriend Phai Patit proposed to her under the Northern Lights, many people have been eager to know if the couple has set the auspicious date and time yet. Recently, we caught up with the bride-to-be, Namtaan Pijaksa, who updated that their wedding preparations are only 10% complete. She admitted to feeling stressed and overwhelmed, while the auspicious date is still pending the elders' arrangements.
"I'm excited today meeting friends and relatives who came to celebrate. Everyone keeps asking when we'll lock in the date. I tell them to wait because we're still planning. We'll try to make it happen this year; if not, then early next year. I should clarify that neither of us has checked auspicious dates or set any specific days yet. People assume that right after the proposal, the wedding and invitations happen immediately, but that's not the case. Also, I realized that weddings require booking well in advance, sometimes over a year ahead, which was quite shocking."
"Right now, the best auspicious dates are fully booked since everyone probably reserved them since last year. If we want to wed this year, we'll have to choose less ideal dates that might not be perfect. But if the date is convenient, my parents won't approve because the elders are quite serious about auspicious timing, hours, and good fortune. We're trying to adjust as much as possible and will wait for Phai's parents to discuss soon, so we might have more clarity then."
"Initially, for the northern event, we planned a small, warm family gathering. But now I'm reconsidering because it seems small; all my friends ask about the northern event, not the Bangkok one. They want to see how weddings are done up north and the ceremonies involved. Currently, progress is about 10%, just me and Phai discussing between ourselves."
"As for the wedding dream, honestly, both of us are simple people. Phai is quiet and somewhat private, while I'm lively and fun-loving, so I want some excitement. Our friends had great weddings too. We expect to hold two ceremonies: the full traditional one in the North and a possible quick event in Bangkok (laughs). Now comes the stressful part because makeup artists are fully booked, and all bridal courses are full. But no worries, my friends are very supportive and encouraging."
