The curtain is about to rise for the legend of the Naga of the Eastern River Basin, an epic of love and faith titled "Nakarat The Musical." Supported by the Contemporary Arts Promotion Fund under the Office of Contemporary Arts and Culture, Ministry of Culture, and produced by the "Piwat Performing Arts Group," this project aims to enhance, develop, and elevate talent in the performing arts industry. Marking a new era, it presents the grandest theatrical production of the year in contemporary performance art in the drama category. The project serves as a pilot to promote and develop high-quality new artists entering the arts and performance industry in Thailand, led by Mr. Napadon Kampanthong. The media was invited for the first rehearsal preview at Point Studio, Ladprao 99, following months of preparation.
Director Atttha Permpoon gathered the full cast for their first complete, realistic rehearsal, featuring Peter Pan Tatpol Wivitwarat, Biu Jakrapan Phutha, Marilyn Kate Gardner, Mokong Sorawit Suboon, Chaba Natthamanee Pichayasuttisil, Suriya Yaosang, Kawinthorn Saengsakorn, Patcharapol Santiporn, and many supporting actors. The rehearsal atmosphere was filled with the spirit and overflowing power of faith, as every actor deeply embodied their characters.
The entire production team is fully mobilized, including the director, crew, set, lighting, and sound, holding readiness meetings to ensure an impressive and captivating show. Actors are rehearsing lines and gradually entering recording studios, nearing completion. The musical features newly composed songs such as "Thewa Bancha," "Santhi Patinya," "War," "Beauty," "Star of the Heart," "Jealousy Fire," and "Lonely," with lyrics by Napadon Kampanthong, melody composition and vocal coaching by Thanat Thanyahan. Each song is beautifully crafted to perfectly reflect the characters and themes.
"Nakarat The Musical" tells the story of the Naga King who rules the underworld and the Eastern River Basin, confronting tragic love and a Naga world war. When love is engulfed by jealous flames and the Wind Demon rises to claim the underworld throne, an epic drama unfolds in the Eastern River Basin. From legend passed down as spirit to stage play... from love to vengeance... from peace to war, emerges an epic timeless love story fueled by faith beyond time. The cast includes Peter Pan Wivitwarat as King Phetphat Nakarat, Marilyn Kate Gardner as Queen Anyarinthasinee Devi, Jakrapan Phutha as King Vayujak, Sorawit Suboon as the Sorcerer, Natthamanee Pichayasuttisil as Queen Nilaruji, Suriya Yaosang as King Suwan, Kawinthorn Saengsakorn as the Priest, and Patcharapol Santiporn as Kamman.
