Fans of the famous comedian Chaturong Mokak were shocked when he shared his painful experience on the YouTube channel Nickynachat’s “Sad Bar” program hosted by Nikki Nachat. He revealed this past event as a life scar involving sexual abuse.
During the show, Chaturong said he once had to endure sexual abuse to get to where he is now as 'Uncle Rong.' Had it not happened, he might have been just a middle-aged bean sprout noodle seller at a market. He wasn’t in the industry because he didn’t know anyone in Bangkok.
He continued, saying that when he came to Bangkok, he joined a band and was taught dance by a gay man. He was a backup performer but hadn’t danced on stage yet. That day, the teacher said bluntly, “You have to sleep with me. You must submit to me. You must lose your virginity to me.” He said everyone under him had complied.
Chaturong was shocked; he was 19-20 years old, young and handsome, while the teacher was about 40 and not dressed as a woman—just a man. The teacher said everyone had complied and asked if Chaturong would refuse. If he refused, he’d have to return to his rural hometown. Chaturong thought for a moment; he was drinking with others then, and after the gathering ended, he was abused that very day.
He shuddered, thinking, “What can I do?” He prayed for morning to come and this to end. He had to accept because if not, he would return home with no money, having run away from his house in Potharam. Afterward, he was taken to settle the bill and put on a vehicle. On the way, no one spoke. Upon arrival at the hotel, he had to comply with everything. During that time, he thought of his mother and father but felt powerless.
After that, he was taken on stage and earned 100 baht as a dancer. He started earning income. Life did not drastically change, but 100 baht back then was a lot—enough for full meals and some savings. The teacher swore it would be a one-time thing. Later, when Chaturong appeared on the game show “Pan Na,” the teacher came weekly asking for money, which Chaturong gave. Everyone on the show knew, and once he even gave 2,500 baht for glasses.
Nikki asked, “Why, P’Rong, even after what that person did to you?” Chaturong replied, “I consider that without him, I wouldn’t be Chaturong. If he hadn’t put me on stage that day, I wouldn’t know the comedians, wouldn’t have shone, or shown that I can do comedy. I consider that a debt of gratitude.” Nikki asked if the abuser is still around. Chaturong said, “He is. If he knows where I am, he comes looking. Lately, I’ve scolded him. His name has popped up on the show 2-3 times already.”
Nikki asked if he would agree to that again if he could turn back time. Chaturong answered, “I would, because it wouldn’t last more than an hour, but I will remember it for life. It’s a lifelong scar.”
